Picturesque cabin.
Rustic cabin, fireplace for the early morning chill (yes, in July) and a restaurant right on the premises. Don't expect too much luxury, this is in a National Park. Bed as comfortable, bathroom was tiny and dated. The restaurant was good and breakfast was very basic.

Just Sad Really
I’m certain at one time this property was a beautiful spot, but the reality is that this is a bunch unkempt, derelict buildings on the side of the road. Fireplaces boarded up, animal poison behind them, old kitchen things that don’t work, vicarious electrical all over. Rotting floors, roofs, mouldy & filthy inside specifically the bathroom. The grounds are dishevelled with debris, unkempt, broken stairs etc. Dog Lovers, pay attention now…if you book from a third-party web page “i.e. Hotels.com, Note that All cabins show pet friendly” but when you get there, they are not. The owner doesn’t seem to be aware of this. So, they switched us to a different cabin. I decided to bring our concerns to the owner, because that’s the right thing to do... but not in this case. He said to me and I Quote “I don’t really feel any sympathy for you, I’ll give you 10 minutes to decide what you want to do and I’ll have it filled by then” …guess what we did? I couldn’t believe what I just heard, so I turned around and left. Its clear to me, that there is no hospitality, I would even say the owner has never been in the Hospitality business and my advice is to get out fast. No one cares and it shows. If there wasn’t people present Id almost think we came upon an abandoned old Mining village, need we say more. We do not recommend Kootney Park Lodge at this time.

Also, the wifi was non-existent.
This was an interesting place to stay. If you are not OK with rustic, this is not the place for you. These are 1920s/1930s bungalows that are really quaint but with bathrooms that leave a lot to be desired. It is also is a lot further to Banff than advertised. The distance stated is to the start of Banff National Park, not the town. Instead of 29km it is 63 km to the townsite of Banff. All in all, the service and staff were great but I would think twice if booking again.

Loved It!
Staff was friendly and helpful upon arrival, recommended good hiking and sight seeing in the area. The cabins are 1930's with some upgrades but still very rustic which we appreciated. Dinner was fantastic and the breakfast
