Good and bad!
Great location near to city centre attractions. Bedding towels very clean, bed exceptionally comfortable! If there is a complaint , it was the continental breakfast, although a good choice of meats, cheeses and pastries etc. We were very conscious of the large flies landing on the uncovered produce, certainly putting my wife off from eating them!

Ok so first impressions were good. Simple check in and the room seemed bright and airy. I asked for my pillows and duvet to be changed as I'm allergic to feathers and this was accommodated easily by the young lady on reception. There is nowhere to store clothing apart from 1 rail with 3 hangers. No drawers at all. The bathroom was tiny and had we been much bigger it would have been a problem. The shower was dirty and smelt nouldy

Avoid Loft Room 2. Not as described.
Given an interior room to that advertised. There are two loft rooms - the one I had is not well represented by the photo, being smaller. The bed is NOT a king size but a standard double. Stairs up to the loft are not very well lit, which is a concern with them being uneven in an old building such as this. However, the room was fairly comfortable although it was not possible to have the windows open without it hanging open and closed - the latch was broken. Checkout was brusque - the door unlocked, a hand appeared and took my key and the door closed again. At no point during my stay was the possibility of breakfast raised. The bar is limited and serves disappointing quality beer, given that it is a pub. All in all, rather disappointing. I don't think this place knows whether it wants to be a pub or a hotel or neither, but should perhaps concentrate on one or the other

The owner of The Thief was extremely helpful and gracious. We are not a young couple so he helped us with our bags and we had a wonderful meal there as well.

The room was big and comfortable. However the shower water tap was not working well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
