Hidden fees
There is a hidden cost they add on at the end. Apparently it’s for pool maintenance and because it’s a historic building. Even though it’s not considerable, it left a bad impression on us. Aside from that, the place is nice. Good location, and great rooftop bar. Just wished they would be more transparent with their clients.

Love this hotel. After staying in NYC, I decided to stay at the LA location and it was fabulous. The service was great. The room was great. And the food was healthy and excellent.

Very unique boutique hotel
It is definitely a boutique hotel, made for 20 and 30 somethings. Great welcoming area, hotel rooms are way to small but nice. Beautiful bar on the roof, hallways are quite dark and could be used for a scene or two in horror movie:) Great location in the downtown,

Great downtown location, close to the highways for travel and the metro. Rooms were great and the atmosphere at the hotel was great.

Wonderful First Stay in LA
The Freehand LA was great. From check in to check out. The front desk staff were knowledgeable and kind about both the immediate area as well as LA as a whole. The hotel offers multiple dining and drinking options and all are great. The rooftop pool caters to guests as they ensure all hotel guests are able to sit on poolside loungers (when not occupied by other hotel guests, then it is a first come first serve basis). The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Our bed choice was a king and it was comfortable, like sleeping at home. The room even had a window side seating area. Overall it was a great stay and I highly recommend the Freehand for stays in downtown LA

LA Weekend Trip
Stayed at Freehand for the All-Star weekend. Pleasantly surprised by the quaint and cool room decor, bunkbeds are also very comfortable. The atmosphere of the building, lobby, and bar is fantastic. Would definitely recommend for friends (choose the private quad as you get a private bathroom)!

Good stay but could be far better next time!!
There was confusion on the site as to what room I got. Had no idea I was sharing a room. However it worked out. Yet very disappointed with no phone in room,no hangers,no iron board, no towel hanger In bathrooms, It should he the right for all patrons to call the front desk and make request or have issues delt with etc

A round of applause for the Freehand
I stayed in an 8 person dorm style room, which had two Bathrooms, and the beds were super comfy. the room has lockers for your belongings so don't forget to take a block along with you. The location is perfect being read downtown in a short walk to everything including the Metro link bus and train terminals. Lots of options for food and beverage around weather the Whole Foods Market public away is your thing or the main floor restaurant or even the broken shaker Lounge up on the rooftop next to the pool area. You won't be disappointed a matter which one you choose or where you go. I would definitely gladly stay here again and I'm planning on doing so on my next trip back to Los Angeles.
