Very lovely hotel stay with our family of four. The location is absolutely gorgeous by the water. We had a room with a balcony that was worth the extra cost. Dinner was very good at the hotel as well. Breakfast was included and lovely. Staff is very nice and accommodating.

The staff were really lovely and made the whole experience enjoyable. Rooms were clean, beautiful view of the mountains from the window. Good selection at breakfast The spa isn't included in the stay and also needs a reservation beforehand. Dinner and breakfast also need a reservation

We had the most delightful stay at the Whispering Pines Hotel. Spotless hotel with delightful and polite staff. The night was very stormy but we felt warm and cosy and despite the numerous times the electricity cut out the generators kicked in and we were back on with power with no fuss. My only criticism is the meal prices were way too high and the choices were too limited

8/10 Very good

This was the first time that I visited Whispering Pine Lodge. The stay was good. What struck me though was that I only paid about ÂŁ250 thereabout for the night (which is the discounted rate) and that under normal circumstances one would have to pay in excess of ÂŁ650 a night. I believe that the owners are Indian and own hotels in India and with that in mind, to stay at Umaid Bhawan is about ÂŁ400/night the last time I checked and Whispering Pine lodge is not even on that level. The hotel was clean, and the food was good and of good quality. The staff were very well mannered and courteous. Its a beautiful setting and although the outside of the hotel is in need of restoration the inside was pleasing. The decor needs updating to relfect the price of the what people are going to pay, like the odd rug or runner in the corridor or room that looks like something out of ASDA or B&Q. I would think that if one is paying in excess of ÂŁ600 a night they would closer on par to what is being offered at the Fife Arms in Braemar. Nonetheless it was pleasant. Not a place to return to but pleasant

We appreciated the staff accommodating my wife’s gluten and dairy allergies. The view of the lake and mountains from the deck and restaurant is amazing! We loved the old Scottish charm of the lodge and the decorations-it feels cozy like a home. Great breakfast and dinner.

8/10 Very good

Whilst the setting of this property was breathtaking, the rooms were a little tired and there didn’t seem to be enough staff for the number of covers at breakfast and dinner. However the bay man of the Robert Burns bar called Anand was exceptional. His cocktails were amazing and he seemed to be the hardest working member of staff.

10/10 Exceptional

A truly lovely hotel. Nestled on the side of a stunning loch the lodge is in an awe inspiring location. However, the whole stay was an experience. The owner has clearly spent a lot of money on ensuring that this property is modern with a traditional, yet contemporary feel. From the moment we arrived the staff were a stand out and all deserve a thank you. You can have a beautiful building and location but without the right people it means little. We ate in the restaurant and the clever mix of Indian inspired dishes on one part is woven together extremely well with the more expected Scottish dishes. Breakfast is a very good buffet with plentiful choice. They also have a small spa with many treatments so make sure you book ahead.

2/10 Poor

The front desk had a miscommunication as to how to get to the hotel around a closed road crash which cost us 1.5 hours of driving and not being able to get there. We asked for a partial refund and they were unhelpful. It ultimately was a misunderstanding of which direction we were coming from and which road block we were needing to get around I found dealing with them after the fact very not compassionate even if they couldn’t offer a refund, making it feel entirely like my fault for not being willing to drive 2.5 more hours on the 154 mile detour that was there saying I was the only guest not to make it. A great way to make someone want to return! Make them feel bad about it.
