Would stay a night again if have reason to, solid
Stayed while in Toronto for the night. Bartender giving my check-in tour was friendly. Room a little bit dirty, blankets and pillows barren, mattress seemed like newer foam which was good, but too soft for me personally. Bunk beds are sturdy and didn't shake too much when I moved on top bunk. Bathrooms filthy. Kitchen is beautiful, love the decor, but didn't use. Was surprisingly clean for a hostel kitchen as well. Didn't have time to use the cafe/bar. Good neighbourhood for food and not too sketchy for Toronto. I had a car so location in Toronto wasn't a big deal, but subway and bus stop were right there. Overall if you need a place to crash and aren't too fussy, it's decent. I think if I stayed for a week, the mattress and bathrooms really would get to be uncomfortable.

Will be back
Since I was there over a year ago the hostel has improved. It seems cleaner, some unfriendly staff is no longer there, the kitchen is no longer near the rooms (better for noise management). Much better impression second time around, mostly due to the current staff, some of which were also there my last stay.

This I a great backpacker hostel. The staff were very friendly and it is just steps from the subway. Very good breakfast and nice bar attached.
