The staff on site were helpful, and offered to move us to another room due to noisy plumbing.

A beautiful hotel and friendly staff. We were very well treated, and felt safe. Everything was spotlessly clean. The restaurant was excellent. Fantastic location.

Nice comfortable bed and well appointed shower , sky tv, Nespresso coffee maker with pods. We had a view of river and countryside. May be tricky for some as stairs are a little tight - room was small but comfortable.

    Most enjoyable stay

We loved our rooms - the mattresses were incredible! I had read that rooms were small, so was forewarned, however as this is such a historic property I’d anticipated that and so wasn’t expecting too much. In fact our rooms were perfectly spacious enough for one average and one v large person in each couple! They were superior rooms however and as we glimpsed on check out, some other rooms are just as beautifully furnished, but quite a bit smaller. One of our bathrooms was large with a bath and over bath rainfall shower, where our (same grade) room had a corner shower which was actually very small - my tall, large partner did not fit well at all. Worth checking which kind of bathroom you’re getting in that case! Nice telly with Sky channels and a good tea selection in the room, though coffee machine rather than my preferred kettle. Staff were really great and despite having people off sick in the busy Xmas period they remained cheerful under extreme pressure. Good teamwork. Food was v good at Sunday lunch and excellent breakfast was much enjoyed: great local ingredients. As breakfast was delayed due to staff shortage we were told no problem with late check out. Very pleased with our stay, location excellent. Could have done without the refuse collection under our window at an inexplicable hour (5am?!) but not the hotel’s fault! Look forward to returning.

The room was bright, clean & modern, with a huge TV screen. The bathroom was bright, modern, & the water pressure in the shower was great. The property's restaurant was very quaint, spacious, & the food was excellent. It was money very well spent. I highly recommend this property. We will return to this property in the future.

Modern hotel rooms in an historic Inn.

The rooms in this small inn have been completely remodeled. They are like brand new. The bed was comfortable, the room had all of the modern amenities and it was quiet. The staff were very friendly. Finally, it is very convenient to walk around the town. One note, we did not eat in the pub because were visiting a friend and had other options. The only other issue is that if you are coming by train be prepared to drag your luggage the .3 of a mile from and to the station as taxis are few.
