Charming boutique hotel
What a cozy, nicely appointed boutique hotel! We loved our stay at Highlander Mountain House and were pleasantly surprised by service and their attention to detail. We especially liked the complimentary coffee and fresh baked banana bread in the morning, it was a great stay.

The property itself is beautiful and the recent renovation was done well. That being said, the booking process through 3rd party apps is incredibly misleading. The only images and description on Expedia and other 3rd party websites is of the main house rooms. There is a bunkhouse behind the main house that is, in my opinion, a lesser experience. There is no central AC/heat, the rooms are so small you can barely get around the bed, let alone unpack your suitcase, and it feels as if you are relegated to the misfits section of the property. This inn needs to do a much better job of communicating the distinction between each building and which building you're actually booking a room in. (It seems as though they prioritize those who booked directly through their website and leave the "leftover" rooms to those who booked through 3rd party websites- incredibly disappointing.)

Our room was beautifully decorated with antiques and kilim carpets. Luxurious bed and modern bathroom. Helpful and pleasant staff. Continental breakfast included terrific coffee and delicious cupcake. One or two more beverage options (like juice) would have made it perfect. Great location in the center of Highlands.
