The Inn at Stratford Hall, Stratford
Not Your Best Choice
This hotel is very hard to find. It is on the grounds of Stratford Hall but the GPS took us someplace entirely away from there. And, in fact, it is not a hotel at all, but one building and several cabins. We were put in the building which has 10 rental rooms built around a central living room and kitchen. The living room has the only TV. There was no TV (can you believe that!), microwave, refrigerator or any other amenities in the room itself. We were the only ones staying there. We were told breakfast would be served between 8 AM and 10 AM, but not told how. We discovered two baskets of food which looked like they might be breakfast in the common refrigerator at six AM , but didn't know if they were ours or not since we hadn't been told that, so didn't take them. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink, and the thermometer for the heat had a sign saying "keep the temperature between 68 and 72 degrees" on a cold winter night. We were freezing! All this for the stiff price of $180. This place looks like it might be going out of business.

A magical night at Stratford Hall
It was amazing to be able to stay on the property that holds so much history. The innkeeper when out of her way to tell us all about the property and set us up with all that we needed. We rented bikes the next day and explored the property, beach, and nature trails. It was a weekend full of fond memories. Cant wait to go back.

Not worth the price.
Not worth the price. We were probably the only two guests at this hotel. Nothing to do around this area, besides the GW birthplace. We were expecting more things to do.

I loved the Hotel however the head board hit the wall every time I moved. I am a light sleeper so in my sleep the headboard hit the wall every time I moved which woke me up. Also the free breakfast was cold. Because of those reasons I will most likely not stay again.

INN not what it seems
We arrived early to beat DC traffic and our room was not ready around 0930. This was fine as we were not going to stay in room all day. We asked about the restaurant that was advertised (since we drove straight through) and we were told that the hours were 1130 to 1430 and more information about local restaurants were in our room. It doesn't help much with info on local restaurants in our room if we can't go there. Also, the Inn shouldn't advertise restaurant if it is only open a few hours. The hotel receptionist was nice but not very helpful. She told us when we checked back for our room that we can use the bicycles as long as we sign waiver. Why didn't she tell us when we first arrived? Also, if check in at 1400 and check out is 1100 it really leaves little time if any to use the restaurant. The tour of the house was very nice and the people at the tour were also very knowledgeable. The Inn advertised private beach, but there are signs that say no swimming; it should be advertised as a no swimming beach. The trails were nice to walk through and were marked well. Overall the stay was average at best; if they did not try to sell the place by making it sound better, i would of had low expectations and liked it more.
