8/10 Very good

Fine place in convenient neighborhood but LOUD AC
Check-in was quick and easy, despite being earlier than usual (around 10:30 AM). Room was clean, comfortable, in good condition, and properly supplied with the usual stuff *plus earplugs*. The shower door was not quite vertical, but there wasn't much leakage, so okay.
Had a great lunch at the famous Stubb's, just down the block from across the street.
Then came breakfast, and also dinner. They're apparently in the midst of a big transition in the restaurant (Ladybird Kitchen + Bar), so there were some snafus, but nothing major, and all corrected pretty quickly. Just remember, it's Texas, so even the "small plates" are pretty big. ;-)
Check-out was also quick and easy.
Neighborhood is convenient for walking to downtown core and Capitol, trivial to 6th St, reasonable for waterfront. Immediate area seems a bit run-down though.
On the downside, there is apparently some night music venue within easy earshot, hence the earplugs. Also, the HVAC fan is ridiculously loud. The first night, I used the earplugs, but that combo masked the alarm on my phone for several minutes. The second night, I put the fan on auto, and still used earplugs -- and when it came on, it woke me up. So I turned the HVAC off. Fine in a mild winter, maybe not so much in the height of summer.
