Policies

Parents or a legal guardian traveling with children under 18 years must present the child's birth certificate and an identity card with photo (passport, for example) at the check-in. For international travels from Brazil, if just one of the parents is traveling with the child, she/he must present – in addition to the child's certificate of birth and identity card with photo – a letter authorizing the trip signed by the other parent with a notarial certification of signature. In case the parents or the legal guardian, as applicable, cannot or are unwilling to give this authorization, a judicial authorization is required. People who intend to travel to Brazil with children must consult with the Brazilian consulate before traveling for more information.

Cheap but!!!
A great price and a fabulous size room BUT check in was really slow. The queue for breakfast really long and an unusual layout in the room meant anyone in the bedroom could see you shower ! The area is very rundown so you’ll need to use a taxi at night.

Fantastic hotel, will come back for sure
I arrived at the Slaviero after having spent the previous night in a so called 4 star hotel where I didn't have internet nor television, it was rather dirty and the staff was ambivalent or rude. I was greeted by Rita who acted not only in a professional way, but made me feel welcome by asking questions about where I was from (I'm a German living in Rio de Janeiro) and made sure that I got to my room ok. The rooms are very modern and pretty, not super big, but you have everything you need - new, silent air con, working internet, working flat screen tv, clean, comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom with great smelling towels. :) The hotel is in the heart of Lapa, which from Thursday to Saturday is THE place to be if you want to have fun, go out, drink, dance, have a good time. It's located within a short walking distance form all the bars and clubs, and the next metro station (Cinelandia) is about 1,2 km away. Having said that, on Sundays most of the restaurants are shut and if you are looking to stay in the area you might have to reach a bit further out to find some food. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and plentiful, the only thing I missed were apples, but on the other hand I had four types of milk to choose from (full fat, half fat, soy and lactose free) and lovely bread with a crust, too. I can really, really not complain and will be back with my boyfriend who couldn't make it this time round.

Check-In Wait Totally Unacceptable!
I don't want to begin with the negative, but let's get it out of the way. My nephew and I arrived at about 8 a.m., and dropped off our bags with the front desk. They took our bags, gave us claim tickets, and informed us that the rooms wouldn't be ready until about 1 or 2 p.m. That's standard with any hotel, so no problem. We returned around 2:45 p.m. That's when the wait began. My nephew and I stood in the lobby waiting for 1 hour and 45 minutes to finally be given our rooms. At one point, I counted 5 employees behind the counter, (see attached photo) yet nothing seemed to be happening. The young man in the middle of the photo seemed to be the one answering phone calls, while the others stood around supposedly assisting those of us who were waiting. The date of check-in was January 4th. I made this reservation on October 16th. I feel that that is enough time for the hotel to place my nephew and I on the same floor. That didn't happen. When I wanted to meet with my nephew to go anywhere, I had to call his room and tell him to meet me in the lobby, because your room key will only grant access to the floor your room is on. The positives are that the hotel and room is very modern, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Most Brazilian showers are the heated shower heads. This hotel has American style shower heads with actual water pressure! The breakfast bar was wonderful. Improve the front desk service, and this hotel deserves the four stars that is claimed on this site

Amazing hotel in Rio de Janeiro Downtown area
Lapa is the bohemian neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro and Slaviero Lifestyle is certainly the best low cost option for business or leisure time in this region.

The hotel is quite chic. The hotel staff was very polite and helpful. Some floors of the hotel don't have ceiling panels leaving pipes all exposed, looking really untidy and unsafe. The neighborhood is very rustic, busy and noisy.
