Maintenance issues put a damper on things!
The apartment was nice enough but the jacuzzi wasn't working and flooded the bathroom and the ceiling so, although we reported it, we spent the second week mopping up water as it seeped through the ceiling from the first floor. There is a member of staff from the management team on site during the day and there is a guard onsite at night. This is fine but we went down late one night and found him lying out flat on a couple of cushions in the carport fast asleep. A few nights later, the same guard had been given a nice shiny uniform and a gun. This made us feel slightly less secure because we didn't really fancy the idea of a sleeping guard having his gun stolen by any potential robber!! We also had a problem getting the TV to work and the internet was very unreliable. All of this meant that we spent time out of our holiday waiting for the maintenance people to arrive and sort things. Having said that, the maintenance guy who came to sort the TV was very pleasant but he couldn't sort it out so we had to wait for the cable / internet TV person to come. While he managed to sort the TV, the internet was still very unreliable. Having said all of this, the apartment has a lovely pool, is right next to a deserted beach and has some lovely views. It is about 45 mins' walk from the centre of Cabarete along the beach - it is a bit quicker along the road but you take your life into your hands walking along the road!
