Excellence Suite, Rome

The location and service are excellent! The bed is rather uncomfortable, but passable. The decor is better than expected. The wifi only works right next to the room door, but not inside. Even though the immediate area is quiet and is away from the busy streets, the rooms themselves require much more sound insulation. Luckily there were no guests in the rooms next to ours; otherwise it would have been very noisy. But thanks to them being empty, and to the great check-in clerk we have had a lovely stay!

We stayed in the motorbike room and nfortunately the room and bed cover smelt of body odour. The temperature tap on the shower was also broken so we had cold showers for our first night. However, the location is great and the reception staff were extra helpful and very friendly.

Great location, very central and safe. Spare bed for 3rd person was a very uncomfortable as it is a futon/folding chair with metal bars, I woke up with back and neck pain, I put the mattress on the floor the second night and it was a bit better but still very uncomfortable as it was a thin mattress. We could hear heavy steps from upstairs which is annoying when you are trying to sleep. BE AWARE there is no elevator so going up and down the stairs with your luggage is a nightmare. Room was very clean. Staff was friendly but not always available.

The room was spotlessly clean, however it was spartan beyond belief. One very small chair, unidentifiable liquid soap in the shower and at the sink, very dark room, suitable for sleeping, taking a shower and dressing. Not suitable for anything else. Very claustrohobic. Up a step dirty alleyway, about 8 blocks from where we were lead to believe the hotel was located, not user friendly to the Trevi area we thought we would be in. The hotel was very uncomfortable and too far from decent dining options. The breakfast was overrated, meager, and inadequate. No fruit, 2 cereal choices, overly sweet breakfast rolls, no toast, coffee on order, or make your own tea. 5Euros a person was excessive for such a pitiful meal. I would not recommend this hotel.

We had a long weekend away in Rome, when we arrived at the hotel we were met by very friendly and hepful staff. Our room was on the 3rd floor, which after a long day site seeing, was a bit of a struggle, as no lift, but being an old building , this is perfectly understandable. The room was clean , tidy, and had a modern clean look.The aircon was a welcome relief from the heat. The hotel is situated within easy walking distance of many tourist attactions and was a fabulous base. I would definatly recommend Excellence Suite to family and friends
