Memories are great and this was my home many years ago and it was very nice to come home and stay at your property, If my memory serves me right this used to be a hospital. Food was good, but would have preferred a nice steak and kidney pud on the menu.

Great location, not clean.
The location was excellent and the grounds were very nice, however, the room that we stayed in was not in as clean a condition as I would have liked, there were dead bugs squashed to the wall and curtain and the walls were dirty. There was also some disrepair to the room. The room was very warm, but as we’d been put in a room above the kitchen, when the window was open, the smell of grease filled the room in the mornings. When we arrived, I felt rushed by the receptionist who handed me a sheet of paper and told me everything was on there and when I asked where the breakfast room was, she said the information was on the sheet, which it was not. Breakfast on the first morning was a little unorganised with no plates out, no tea and no juice, but there was one very good member of staff who was rectifying things quickly. That being said, whilst we were eating, we were interrupted and asked to sign a bill for the breakfast despite the fact we’d paid in advance which it then emerged was someone else’s bill. Breakfast also entailed loud singing from the kitchen. The second morning’s breakfast was significantly better.

Serious Covid Issues
Was recommended to stay here by hotelier friends, as it’s under new ownership. Initial thoughts entering the hotel up the potholed driveway were nothing had changed since I last visited the property 15 years ago. There was a wedding in progress and we couldn’t get through the front porch because it was blocked with People smoking, no attempt at social distancing. The room was ok, looked like it was refurbed about 10 years ago, unfortunately it was opposite the function room where the wedding was held and Above the kitchens,so we were disturbed by rowdy guests and the kitchen staff arguing and smoking... delightful. Dining in the restaurant on Friday night the staff were very good And the food acceptable. However breakfast the following morning was a right shocker! We were shown a table which was still dirty from the previous occupants, I mentioned this to the waiter who said it had been cleaned, clearly not very well, so another member of staff removed the empty condiment sachets and gave it a wipe. Breakfast, not withstanding being prepared from the cheapest ingredients on the market, was served from an open hot Buffett free for all with the serving tounges being passed around from guest to guest. As an investor in hotels I understand this is a totally unacceptable high risk of contamination way to serve food . I mentioned this to a member of staff who said it was the best solution they could come up with and gloves were available. GM you need to get a grip.
