Great option for a tourist visit to Copacabana
The hotel is one block back from Copacabana beach and within an easy transfer distance from the GIG airport. We booked a radio taxi (coopertamo) in the domestic baggage hall which for first time visitors to Rio worked really well. You pay a fixed fare at the stand and get a voucher to your destination so you don’t have to worry about getting a dodgy taxi driver. We weren’t going to get to the hotel until close to midnight and were worried that they might think we were a “no show” so I emailed them and they let reception know when to expect us. We had booked an executive king room with balcony. The balcony was huge with a good view of the beach. The room layout was a little quirky. There was no actual bathroom. The sink was in the room with a shower and seperate toilet immediately off the bedroom. It worked fine but there was no where to hang wet towels and the shower water did seep into the bedroom a little. The wifi was pretty good, no complaints. They had 2 USB power outlets but to use any appliances, you do need specific Brazilian power point adapters. They are two pin with a long hexagonal shaped surround. We managed to find a couple of adapters at a mobile phone cover stand on the street about one block in and two to the right from the hotel. Breakfast was good was lots of options. Dining, try the Italian pizzeria just opposite. Simple but super thin Italian style pizzas. 2 Blocks along past the pizza place is a bbq grill called Braseiro. Absolutely great.

Highly recommended. Staff were great!
Amazing! A minutes walk from Copacabana Beach and the view from the roof is amazing. Ask for a high sea view room and wake up to sun rising East of the hotel. The staff are all kind and helpful especially João and Ferdinada. The cleaner was a thorough and fast. Franco makes the best Caipirinha. We will certainly be back again.

Great location, no mass-tourism
Location of the hotel is amazing, breakfast outstanding. Room and pool a little smaller but still sufficient. Staff was very helpful

Nice location but room to be improved
Very conveniently located in Copacabana, next to restaurants and bar. The hotel has a small swimming pool with direct view on copacabana beach which is quite nice. Breakfast was super good. Unfortunately our room was small and a bit old and had a window which wasn’t really a window so we had no light.

Fantastic hotel in a great location with friendly, helpful, welcoming staff. The hotel is really close to Copacabana Beach - don't be put off because its not technically "beach front", it's a 1 minute walk. Views from the roof top bar / pool are amazing and the breakfast room / restaurant is a lovely place to dine. Breakfast itself was great - fruit, yoghurt, meats & cheeses, eggs, sausage, bread, cakes - a proper feast to start your day. The streets immediately adjacent have many bars and restaurants (there is no noise pollution in the rooms though) and were perfectly safe and had a friendly vibe. We hired bikes from the shop 2 doors up and booked tours through the office opposite. Stay here, it really is a gem.

A good choice
This was a good choice in Rio. It's a small hotel and it suited us fine. Just one block back from Copacabana beach but a quiet street even so. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet wasn't the greatest, but it was good and the breakfast room was on the top floor so it was a nice start to the day to look out over the rooftops to the beach. Our room was modern, clean, quiet and well equipped with a decent sized bathroom. The bed was comfy. Overall, it was a very satisfactory stay and I would certainly recommend this hotel.

WiFi great, Clean and new rooms. Room size was a bit small. Waiters kept on waiting next to breakfast table to clear the table, it was not the best the breakfast service

Poor 2.0
Dangerous Area / Front Desk Lied
Unfortunately my experience at the Ritz Copacabana was less than stellar. Within an hour of checking in and walking along the main street (with hundreds of families around) I was mugged. Local police would not take a report - apparently the hotel must do it. Hotel claimed to not know how. Front desk clerk was entirely unsurprised and even mentioned he carries 2 phones - one to give up to the robbers. There were no warnings from the hotel about the crime in the area. Given the unfortunate event, my wife chose not to join me (she was planning on flying in the next day). I requested a refund for unused nights from the front desk, and was told it was approved. Fast forward to 2 months later, and no refund. The hotel will not respond to any emails related to the matter, and the manager is conveniently "not available" when I call. I wish I could recommend the hotel, but given the shadiness of the staff and the danger in the area I suggest staying far away.
