Look for something better.
The hotel is showing its age and most things are warn out. Tgere are some major plumbing issues in the hotel as the smell of sewer is always around in the rooms. The first room we were in the toilet leaked on the floor and it was from noticeably sewer. The plug ins also didn't work. The staff insisted on coming to the room with the maintenance guy well we were there and inspected to make sure we were telling the truth. A change of room was not mentioned till I started getting frustrated with wasting my time. They did upgrade us to a nicer room in the end. And the breakfast is one of the best had with a hotel in this price range.

Excellent service, clean rooms and great wifi
Nice hotel, very clean and great service from the hotel staff. My wife and I were extremely impressed with all of the hotel staff, and specifically Det, the assistant manager. Det went above and beyond to ensure our stay went perfectly. An example of this...We did some laundry offsite at a laundromat and the clothes came back with stains all over them. We asked the hotel staff if they knew a place that could remove the stains and Det personally walked with us to a laundromat about 10 minutes away and explained the situation to them. The next morning we woke up to a delivery of our clothes with all stains removed, good as new! Had it not been for the staff at G Mekong, our clothes would have been ruined. The rooms are also quite clean and the hotel provides great value for money.

Enjoyable stay
Right in the heart off downtown Phnom Penh so it's an easy walk or tuk-tuk ride to a lot of places, especially the river side and tourist sites. Very friendly staff that I found to be not only most helpful but also warmly greeted you every time. While I didn't;t use the pool or gym I did have a look at them and thought they were great to have available. I did use the restaurant and enjoyed the food and thought it was very reasonably priced.Overall, enjoyed the stay and the hospitality of the staff.

I loved this hotel and will return
I had a wonderful 3-night stay at the G Mekong hotel. The room was large and comfortable, well-equipped, with ample supply of bath gel and shampoo. The breakfast buffet was classical but good. Last but not least, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I am particularly grateful to the desk ladies who patiently helped me as I managed, in the course of 1 day, to go through all the stupid mistakes that a traveler can make (lost room card, forgot safe code, got fake US$ from ATM and change from restaurant, etc.). One last word regarding the location. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes walking distance from the royal palace, about 30 minutes from Wat Phnom. In the daytime, it's just about the duration of the walk in the heat. At night, streets are not well lit, so it's just up to personal perception. Personally, I never felt unsafe there, but, if you do, there are plenty of tuk-tuks (or whatever they call them in Cambodia) passing by, and you can always haggle a $1-2 ride back to the hotel. In summary, I tremendously enjoyed my stay at G Mekong Hotel and will try to book there again when I return in January.

Hotel smelled like smoke
This place a mid-tier hotel on a busy street that caters primarily to Chinese tourists. Pros: the bed was big and comfortable, the rooftop pool is nice compared to the rest of the hotel, and the women who work at the front desk especially are helpful, friendly and kind. Cons: breakfast quality isn't great - apart from an omelette station sad buffet food. The room is dated / not in great condition. Not awful, but for the price not great value in Cambodia. Most importantly, the lobby and our room smelled distinctly like smoke despite it claiming to be a non-smoking hotel. And when we complained, their solution was to "spray" the room with some sort of deodoriser/disinfectant. Not exactly an adequate solution for anyone with allergies/asthma. Lastly, one of the older doormen/bellboys talked at us repeatedly, his main aim seemingly to chide us for not spending longer than two weeks in his country. He would follow us to the elevator doing this, we found it quite obnoxious - yet he managed to be nowhere in sight when we needed help with bags Also worth noting - we asked them to fill up our water bottles so as to avoid the plastic bottles provided, and the water did NOT taste distilled
