Great Stay - Know the Neighborhood
The hotel is super clean and modern. The hotel staff is super friendly and very helpful. I didn't realize I would be able to see 20 homeless people outside my window at night. Be sure to do some research on the area....

Yotel needs some work.
Yotel is a very cool space. The staff are also nice and helpful. We stayed in the sky cabin (loft) for one night and the premium queen for the rest of our stay. Both were very small, which is fine, but the use of space is not the best. There is no where to actually open up your luggage and sort your stuff. At least it's very difficult to do with two people. The pillows aren't the best and the mattress is very stiff. The TV channels lag and the guide is incorrect. The lights also lag and you keep "clicking" to get to the setting you want... But they don't always work. It's the same with the AC unit. There is no door to the toilet or bathroom in general (just a heads up for any couples...). The shower itself is nice and relaxing. The water fountains do not work yet, but there is a water filling station on the first floor. It's just inconvenient for a hotel. The complimentary tea and coffee on the second floor is a nice touch.... But the machines doesn't work so there is no actual free coffee and tea. The entire concept of this hotel is very cool and it really is attractive, but they have hiccups they need to work through. Personally, we wouldn't stay here again. They did not charge a resort fee as they didn't have some things ready which was greatly appreciated. Once they fix this issues and perhaps see running a little longer I'm sure it would be a better stay.

Good concept, mediocre execution
I like Yotel's concept, tested it for a night, and left disappointed and frustrated. PROS: On Market Street, convenient to Orpheum, Moscone, subway and most attractions downtown. Quiet room. Clean. New. Friendly staff. CONS: Three self-check-in screens for check-in, but two aren't working, and the other freezes looking up my reservation, so I wait in line for the one human checking people in; when it's my turn, she explains "they're updating." (If you're all about technology, why do updates during afternoon check-in hours?) My "premium cabin" was just north of claustrophobic; some rooms apparently have no windows. Shower and toilet walls are only frosted glass, seems like TMI if you have a roommate. "Monsoon" shower more like a gentle sprinkle. Barely any counter space at sink. Heated towel rack is inexplicably behind toilet, forcing you to drip all over your tiny floor to get to your heated towel. And though I'm comfortable in most of Tenderloin, this street corner feels particularly sketchy. Finally, all the room lights confused me. The bathroom light is a button in the mirror. The purple mood lighting around the TV console has a switch by the door, but which switch, and how do I dim vs. turn off? I hate it when hotels complicate the simple things; this is the first time in 20 years of hotels that I've had to call the front desk for help turning off a light. OVERALL: Last resort for me. Your mileage may vary.

surprise fees
The hotel itself was very nice and clean as advertised. However it is in a sketchy part of town with lots of homeless people living on the streets in the area. The most unpleasant part of my stay was the $25/night surprise fee that I was told about during check in. They said it was for WiFi and other amenities that are usually included with the price of the room. I had already paid $130+ per night for a very small room and the surprise fees felt like a cheap shot at the weary traveler. Too late to book a different place it felt like I just had to bend over and take it.

Great place
Small room didn’t bother us. Homeless in the area was not great but the hotel is secure. Doors locked at night.Great staff!!!

Overall good stay. I’d stay there again for a short business trip. Opportunities: - lobby aroma is way too strong. Need to rein that in a bit - there’s no water in the gym. Add a water cooler or fountain!

View of the Tenderloin!
The hotel is in impeccable condition, however parking is a quarter of a mile away and you have to avoid walking into human waste on the sidewalks. The crack smoking outside my window was surprising in broad daylight. Should’ve investigated the neighborhood better. The bed is reminiscent of a hospital bed, not quite a queen in size as stated. My reservation through hotels didn’t transfer to the hotel correctly and they were going to give me an even smaller room. 121 square feet, windows don’t open. Not for the claustrophobic!

5/5 would recommend!
The rooms were sparkling clean and the staffs there are always delightful to help. The room is very minimalistic and has everything we need. The hotel is walking distance from Union Square, Chinatown, Pier 39 which is a plus point. The lounge area with the complimentary hot beverage machine and microwave was a definite plus and it is very cozy.

Nope.
The room we got did not match the pictures of the room we booked. There is NO privacy in the Skylounge room. No door on the bathroom/toilet, so don’t stay here if you’re traveling with someone and you might need to use the restroom. It’s barely 200 sq. Feet and you have to duck and crawl into bed. I have a broken ankle and my fiancé is 6’3”. Bed was a struggle. This is a good place to stay if you’re looking for a cheap option and you’re under 5’5” and you’re single with no friends. it was hilarious and a night we’ll never forget.
