I’d stay again
I would stay again. Check in was speedy, room was clean and quiet. Staff were friendly and professional. I had a double room which is not much bigger than the double bed itself (plus a small bathroom). Totally fine as I was solo. If two people it would be quite cozy! Very little storage for bags. Mild criticism: The a/c didn’t work. They sent a technician immediately who claimed it was but a/c never cooled the room. Thankfully the windows opened. The music volume in the elevators is pointlessly loud and annoying. Coming off a loud Manhattan street it should be soothing, not jarring.

Bare bones, workable, but many minor annoyances
Room was pretty much as expected -- small (like on a ship) and quite bare bones but a good budget option for the Times Square area. I had a small bunk bed room, and the mattresses were quite firm. The room was clean in the most important "major" ways (clean carpet, sheets, towels, shower) but there was noticeable dust on some surfaces and splatters (like from a spilled soda) that weren't fully cleaned on others. There's not much storage (no drawers, closet, fridge, etc.) but the hooks and hangers are helpful. The ladder up to the top bunk was rickety, and ran directly into the chair for using the desk area, so with two guests you wouldn't be able to get up and down while someone sat there. They nicely provided charging ports & outlets directly next to the bunk beds, but no surface like an end table or ledge to actually put your devices on. Just a lot of little poorly designed things like that, that make your stay slightly frustrating -- another example, the shower and elevator were both hard to figure out, which feels so easy to just solve for your guests (put a sign up!). Overall workable but small annoyances that would have probably been bigger annoyances with 2 people crammed in.

In the Pod…
Pros: Great location and friendly staff. They provided maid service without a special request (haven't experienced this in a hotel since before the pandemic). Plenty of zippy elevators. Reasonably priced for the area. Cons: I don't mind a small room, especially in NYC or Europe, but, man, two people in a room can be a bit of a traffic jam. Also, the bathroom isn't so much a room as it is a cubicle with frosted glass doors. Not a lot of privacy.
