Great location and relaxing between large cities
We loved robes and extensive buffet. Onsens were relaxing. Probably didn’t need the in room onsen in retrospect. Close to ropeway.

Amazing stay in Hakone
This hotel was my favorite out of the 4 we stayed in during our Japan trip. The beds were comfortable, bathroom had all we needed and the balcony gave us the most amazing view in the morning, definitely get a room facing the water and mountain. We could see the Pirate ship as well from our room. I loved that the booking came with buffet meals- fantastic options. I loved our stay in Hakone and this hotel. They even had a feared outdoor foot bath to rest your feet after walking. You could use there onsen or book a private one. So many extras on the property. Just an overall amazing stay during our trip.

This hotel offered breathtaking views of the lake. My husband and I opted for a room with a private open air bath which was amazing. Note though that the bath only fits one person at a time, and there is no view of the lake which was disappointing. Instead we faced a weird parking lot. The staff is very kind and go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. The food has good options, but it is the same dishes everyday. The free wine and beer was a nice touch! Some tips on the area: there is not much immediately around the hotel. You will need to take the bus or ropeway to access other things. We LOVED the open air museum which was a 30 minute bus ride away. The hotel offers a shuttle from the train station to the hotel (it’s about an hour away) Make your reservations to the train station in advance! We were unable to get a reservation because they were already booked. We ended up taking a bus to and from Shinjuku (Tokyo) which was really easy because it was a straight shot to and from the hotel. Lastly, I was surprised how many small children were at the hotel. There were several that were loud and screamed a lot during our dinner, and then breakfast the next morning. We didn’t love that since this was supposed to be about rest and relaxation. We spoke to the staff moved us to a quieter dining area.

Close to Togendai, so good positioninf. I’d love to leave a better review but the room had a sewer smell to it, which ended being a lot more nauseating than we initially thought. Despite that, good service and staff, and great food

Great place to relax and unwind at the public bath. Very clean and great food also, would recommend to anyone looking for an onsen. Not so much a Ryokan however.

Will not stay here again
No in room slippers, the shower has issues with water temperature control, one second with hot water and the next second with cold/warm water, constantly doing so, I’ve told the reception, they said going to check, but nothing has been fixed nor followed up. Breakfast and dinner buffet were great, but I’ve been told that they never change menu, so I had exactly the same food menu for my 3 nights stay, starting to get sick of the same stuffs, also the rooms are extremely overpriced, the cheapest for AUD$620+ per night for a single bed twin room without private onsen for 1 person. The free shuttle to Odawara was handy but required early reservation, other than this, no other services provided.
