Really cool interior and very central neighbourhood. There were also all sorts of amenities in the bathroom which was great. The only slight downsides were that the lounge area was quite stuffy and the service was not the friendliest ever...

One of the best hostels I've stayed in, in terms of comfort and amenities.

Top notch capsule hotel
Great amenities and spacious living quarters. The staff has excellent service and attention to detail. Location is central to all attractions in kyoto. This is one of the best capsule hotels in kyoto.

Amazing, but maybe not for the light sleeper
The location is incredible! Situated in the heart of all the shopping and dining of Kyoto + Gion. The place itself is spotless and filled with amenities that you could dream of. Unfortunately, the capsule got very warm for me because there was no air circulation. The light inside the capsule had no cover and was quite bright, so a bit blinding. Room lights are on 24 hours, although dimmed in the evening until 8 am, so bring a night mask if you're a light sensitive sleeper. If you're a good sleeper, then this is the place to stay. Otherwise, may be worth looking into a hotel.

Nice accommodation,great location,AMAZING service
The Comics&Capsule hotel is very new (opened in February, 2017). The facilities are spotless: showers and restrooms are very clean, beds are comfy, washing machines and driers are available on the premises for a nominal fee (laundry detergent is included). A number of amenities (one-use toothbrushes, hairbrushes, and floss picks, mouthwash, great hairdryers) are available in the restrooms. I can't comment on the manga selection, but the atmosphere is great! The common room is a library with hundreds of meters of shelves, which continue in the sleeping area. Guests are both Japanese and foreign, and the common room reminded me of (a less rowdy version of) hostels in London and Galway: great conversation in the public areas but also super quiet spaces to work or rest on the sofas. The location is great: 15 minutes from the train station, a few short minutes on foot from Gion, close to a major bus stop to get to the rest of the city. The hostel is nestled on the 4th floor of a busy shopping mall: a bit of a tourist trap, but Nishiki Market is three minutes away on foot. The sleeping area was very quiet. The best thing about ComiCap is the service. The personnel was incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to ensure that guests had a great experience. I forgot a small item in the reception when I left, and the staff took great pains to ship it to me express in the U.S. (at the hostel's expense!). I would not have expected such service from the Marriott! Highly recommended.
