Great for a short stay [It's kinda pricey]

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Monsaraz. It's a fairly new hotel, and it shows. The decor is great, the staff is friendly and accommodating, check-out is 12/noon which is rare since most places kick you out at 11, and the location even had fairly easy to find parking in the area, since valet parking was $35 a night. Below are the cons: For starters, they have two elevators, but only one was operational. For a new hotel [under a year old] to already have a busted elevator certainly didn't seem like a good start. Luckily, the hotel is only three floors, so it's not impossible to move about, just annoying at times. The refrigerator was kind of small, but worse, it pulls out like a drawer, so while it saves space, it's tough to put anything in there besides a few beverages and a small takeout container. I've never understood the appeal of sliding doors for a bathroom, and they have two doors that you have to slide in opposite directions to get inside. If you could care less about privacy and practicality when it comes to bathroom doors then I guess it's not an issue. The shower is nice, but they don't have anywhere for you to place your own soap/toiletries when taking a shower. Had to resort to using this stool they provided. and keeping it next to the shower door. They provide hand soap in the bathroom, but were out upon arrival. You'd think during covid times this would be the first thing they refilled. I'd still stay here again though, but hopefully at a lower rate.

Parking a bit of an inconvenience.

Love the room design. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the stay. Only issue we had was the fact it didn’t have public parking for self park. You need to pay $25 valet parking. In which your car is parked in a basement. You’ll need to ask the valet to bring you to your car in the basement if you need to get stuff from your car.

Nice, clean and friendly staff hotel

A bath room automated Sensor fan was broken and worked all the time. It was noisy. Can’t not sleep with a noise, so change a room. Other than that, staff were very friendly , hotel was clean and service was good.

    Great stay

Amazing stay! This newly renovated hotel was so modern and sleek. We loved the lobby. Our room was cute and very clean. The beds were very comfy. Great location, not too far of a drive to both Downtown SD, Coronado and Mission Beach. I would definitely stay here again.

    Noisy fan

The hotel was very clean and there are nice restaurants nearby. However, we could not sleep well because of the fan in the bathroom. It was too noisy but there is no way to turn it off. This noisy fan runs all day and night.

    Beautiful work of art

This is a brand new hotel and each piece in the room is functional art. You can tell that the person who designed this hotel took their time. The staff was absolutely stellar. The location of the hotel is wonderful because it is just a walk down the block to the Marina where several high class restaurants are. In the other direction there are several 24 hour restaurants like Winchels donuts and a great Mexican food place called Tony's. It is a very safe neighborhood where you can take night walks along the dock with the beautiful ocean breeze. This was a great break from the 110F where we live. The beds were extremely comfortable and everything was spotless. 10/10 would stay here again.

Ours was a quick overnighter for my Father’s Day with my wife, and two daughters, one who lives nearby in Point Loma. Though we didn’t spend a lot of time at the hotel or in our room, what time we did spend was great. The hotel is newly opened so very fresh and clean. The rate was very reasonable for the weekend and better than other less desirable places in the area. The only downside we noticed was the property doesn’t have a swimming pool. That’s not a dealbreaker for us as we have a pool at home and don’t usually use pools on overnighters, but may detract others coming for extended stays.
