3 night couples trip with hockey game
Beautiful interior, centrally located. Rooms are elegant and in terrific condition however many do not have bath tubs. Hotel restaurant is stunning but pricey. People were dressed up for dinner and cocktails. Lots of business people here too. Concierge emailed throughout our stay to follow up with a request. They were attentive which was nice. I mentioned wanting a bottle of wine placed in the room but the prices were unjustifiably high. I declined because our plans changed as we went out early instead of doing cocktails in room. We ended up bringing back our own for the next night. Speaking of early get to the Bell Centre restaurant VERY early before games. We were almost 2 hours early and the place was packed! Hotel is a Close walk to the Bell Centre (around 10 min) if you’re visiting for hockey. Variety of shopping from higher end to reasonable budgets. Lots of great restaurants close by including a great Mexican one only a minute from hotel. Doormen were fantastic with providing recommendations and helping with luggage etc. Best tip, take an Uber not a cab! Our cab reeked of cigarette smoke as did we after the 30 min + ride from airport. Prices for Ubers cost around $41, cabs $42. FYI Ubers CAN pick you up at airport. I called Hotel Reception ahead of time and she told us they might not be able to pick up at airport but our Uber driver said they can. There is designated Uber pick up and drop off at airport. Overall hotel worth the price.

Beautiful hotel. Unfortunately we were given the wrong room, double booked and got moved. They were very apologetic.

Not 5 star
Ok, this hotel on the surface is very beautiful. The old building is lovely and the restaurant was great! Location is great. It’s new inside & the design is pretty. Rooms are a good size - We paid extra for a terrace which we regretted because it faced the back of a building! There were several things that a 5 star hotel would have automatically which this didn’t. A bath tub for instance. No full length mirror. The beds are very soft. Their comprehension of English was limited. The kettle and Nespresso coffee machine was nice to have but when I asked for some Eng Breakfast or Orange Pekoe/ plain black tea teabags they didn’t know what I was talking about! It took them 3 times to figure it out!! The spa was closed for 2 days straight over the long weekend and so the Hammam, which we wanted to use was unavailable. No pool. At check out, we almost got charged for a meal that we didn’t have, had we not spotted it. And then we had a disagreement over a room service delivery charge. On their menu it says that ‘Prices include delivery charges.’ but then they went and slapped on another 18% without asking us! When we questioned it, they said it was the service charge. So we argued for 30 mins over the bill. Terrible service in this respect. It spoiled our whole experience of this hotel and we won’t stay here again. So the conclusion is the building is nice but they lack the maturity and experience of a bigger hotel operation. The concierge was great however.

Has an ego problem.
This hotel has an ego problem. It is a beautiful building with comfortable amenities. I sat in the lobby after dinner and heard apologies with “buts” from all directions. I believe that management feels that regardless of price customers should put up with “good enough” and deal with the limited wine list, over stated marketing, weird menu items and front desk lectures about policies. The front line workers are at the point of indifference. Also, true it is not the fault of the hotel that the area is surrounded by construction, limited parking and a hub for the homeless, but the facility does nothing to overcome it. This is far too expensive for all of this.
