Had a great time
We had a great stay during the past Christmas holiday. We enjoyed the holiday theme, food, pools, lagoon, and beach volleyball every day. We’re warmly greeted by everyone we met, especially our concierge Carlos. Carlos helped us on dinner reservations, transportations, late checkout, and so on. Our vacation won’t be so comfortable without his help. I’d recommend Oceal El Faro and Carlos to our friends. Thanks

Pretty....but not a lot of bang.
Leaving today, and initially I said I wasn't going to leave a review because I don't want to discourage ppl who have already booked. In all honesty we had a great time and the resort is at the very least pretty and clean. There's a ton to do and you won't have a problem entertaining yourself or kids. The beach wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. My son is 8 and he was able to enjoy the waves easily. On the flip side....everything is grossly subpar. At any other resort I've stayed at the staff seem so happy and eager to service guests. Here, the smiles are kind of limited and SOME of the staff aren't super friendly. The food was also subpar. I checked in on xmas eve and that meal was amazing. But all after that it wasn't great. The amount of ppl at the buffet was also overwhelming. I was privilege, and the ONLY good thing about that was the restaurant and all night room service. Lastly, I was up for an excursion around 7am and I only saw four floaties provided by the resort in the lazy river. How do they have a lazy river but no floatie budget? We brought our own, but it still seems super odd to me. My friend is also here but at ocean blue and sand...and she felt the same way about her experience.

The staff was wonderful, making sure our family was always happy and well taken care of. We recognized that the resort was limited with resources, for example couldn't accommodate many tables for dinner reservations. The housekeeping did a pretty good job with the rooms, and always had fresh towels. The food at the buffet was as you would expect, but the food in the restaurants was amazing!! We ate at the hibachi restaurant, the steak house and Italian, and all meals were amazing. Disappointed the hot tub was only for the "Privileged" guests, but the kids water park made up for it!
