    Fantastic Hotel

Woodbine Hotel is truly one my of the best hotel experiences ever. This old hotel was built in 1904 and is supposedly haunted. It has the authentic creaky wooden floors and old fixtures. We had the whole hotel to ourselves. When I say the whole hotel, even the staff leaves at night. We were the only guests that night. We explored the whole hotel. We would definitely stay here again and try a different room.

It was a delightful stay. It was very clean. The hostess was delightful. We were the only guests. We were able to explore the many antiques. We received a custom breakfast with out stay. There were some places that you could see that the wallpaper was needing repair, but for a historic location it was a fun n stay.

The front of building and landscaping was nice. The wood floors and victorian theme in lobby was nice. The rooms were horrid - musty smell, old, ugly peeling wallpaper, water stains on ceiling, floor, and walls. Curtains would tear if you barely moved them to look outside. There was a wedding there that night and the banquet food stench filled the entire building for hours, as did the noisy, drunk wedding party. The wedding party took up the entire restaurant, and no one told us that our reservations were canceled because of the party. The 1970's style bathroom with jet bath tub was ugly and the bath took hours to fill, which meant the water did not stay hot. There was a loosely dangling light over the bathtub, so I did not feel safe even trying it anyway. The food and coffee were tasteless... not worth the stay for "free breakfast."

    A very quiet stay

Unfortunately, the hotel was not really functioning as such. The delightful owner showed us to our room, which was adequate but dated, and gave us a 20 dollar discount for there being no "dinner" We may have misunderstood this, because infact there was no breakfast. We saw no staff or other guests, having waited in the dining room, where the owner indicated breakfast would be served, for 2o minutes or so, and no-one in the kitchens, we left. It's a charming property.

The hotel was built in 1903 and it was built well and beautiful. It is an amazing hotel. OK, it is a bit weathered, but it still is a Victorian Charm. The owners were very nice and it is located very close to town.

    Very Disappointed

Extremely disappointed! We arrived to a hotel without electricity due to storms and no one to check us in despite the fact it was 2:00 in the afternoon. I would honestly appreciate a full refund. We were in town for Texas A&M parent's weekend and our daughter had a banquet that evening. It would have been great customer service to have been informed of the power outage before driving 45 minutes from College Station to Madisonville. We needed to shower and get ready and so we had to leave. Trying to find another hotel in the area was quite challenging. Fortunately we found one. The management at this place is very poor. I was really looking forward to our stay that never happened. Don't waste your time.

Beautiful Place Like Going Back inTime

It was one of the most charming places we have ever stayed. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was quiet. The owner has so gracious. It felt like going back in time to 1904.

I liked that the hotel was built in 1904 and the use of the antique furniture and decor just adds to the experience...the only area that was unexpected was the property location, i.e. it is in town and surrounded by buildings...I plan future trips...
