Selvaje Lodge is stunning, with balconies surrounded by jungle and walkways in the jungle. The staff were fabulous and were a great help arranging a driver for us each day. The Iguazu falls are out of this world (both Argentina and Brazil sides) and we also loved the bird park by the Brazil entrance. We really appreciated being picked up from the Argentina airport and being driven across the border to leave from the Brazil airport. It made it all very easy. The restaurant was great for breakfast (included in the price) and for dinner. We really enjoyed the food and the service. The pool was beautiful as well and very refreshing after a day at the falls.
The rooms are large and modern, with a balcony looking out on the jungle. There's a beautiful swimming pool surrounded by comfy lounge furniture. The bartender is usually at the outdoor bar next to the pool. With only about a dozen rooms, guests at the Selvaje can count on personalized service. I left a scarf on a lounge chair at the pool. I didn't know it was missing until the server brought it to me at breakfast. The restaurant is excellent. They offer a small selection of food, but each thing we ordered was delicious, especially the locally-caught fish. This is fortunate because it's inconvenient to go anywhere else. The hotel is tucked pretty far into the jungle, so you have to take a cab to get to Iguazu, the town, or other restaurants. All the staff are friendly and helpful. But only some of the staff are fluent in English, others are not. We learned to double- and triple-check our communication to make sure
We had arranged through the hotel to be collected by taxi from the airport and that we could pay by credit card. The taxi driver could not speak a word of English and couldn't find the hotel. Eventually after about half an hours frustratiion for us and him he found it. To make matters worse he then had no facility to pay by credit card and we had no choice but to pay by cash. We were also allocated a taxi driver during our stay who took us to the falls etc. Again this driver was expecting cash at the end of our stay yet we had been told by the hotel that credit card was accepted. His car was also scruffy and untidy. Other negatives include some staff are impolite; the property is isolated; there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room; bottled water is provided in the room but at a price of around £2 for a small bottle: restaurant menu choice in the evening is poor and not well described;; the food is average: on our first night we tried to order a bottle of wine in the restaurant but the first four we picked they didn't have; the next night despite being the only customers in the restaurant when we ordered chicken we were subsequently told they had run out; there is also no atmosphere or ambience in the restaurant in the evening. On the plus side, the breakfast waiter is very personable, helpful, attentive and friendly. We paid a lot of money to stay at this hotel and we are extremely disappointed with our experience.
Great staff. Very friendly and accommodating! They helped arrange all of our excursions.
Breakfast needs a wider range of dishes, eg bacon and tomatoes with the scrambled eggs.we had an excellent dinner. The power in our room failed but was quickly fixed. not many guests so was quiet, the pool and gardens were excellent, staff were happy, attentive and accommodating. Attractive contemporary architecture of the Perfect for the location. We really enjoyed our stay and thank you everyone. 😀😀😀
This beautiful lodge is nestled in the jungle The walkways are bridges which preserve the plants. The pool area is relaxing. The only downside was dinner. We ordered fish which was thin and tough. The meal was fairly expensive as well.
I cannot recommend those hotel enough. Emilia and Alejandro were incredibly kind! The service was exceptional and the hotel stunning!! I will be returning for sure. 10/10!!
Loved the setting and the staff - the staff are exceptional! Didn’t love the lack of amenities- no Kleenex, no soap dish, no shelf in shower, AC blew directly on our faces in bed. Also, the food in the restaurant was disappointing.
This is like saying at some private villa, the service is excellent ,the staff go out of their way to accommodate you, Georgio ,Elihandro, Amillia, a few giving really outstanding service, thank you again. There is a really great chef ,so good that we did not want to eat out elsewhere at all during our four night stay.Located in a jungle setting, quiet and exotic’ I suggest staying more time here and less elsewhere on your trip ,other guest will be out sightseeing and you will have the pool and, all the luxury to yourself. Very comfortable bed, marvelous shower, a bottle of fine Malbec wine with dinner for only $12, it can not get better than this.
Felt like a private Oasis in the jungle; treated with such care by all the employees. Can't recommend this place enough when visiting the falls. Great with arranging transfers and drivers. You are in the jungle and the town is not walkable, but you really don't need to there much, I recommend you relax at the pool and dine at the hotel instead!
