Eastern Townships Hotels

From the New England influenced, idyllic architectural style of the area, to the sweeping auburn fall forests and rolling green hills, the Eastern Townships set the scene for a fantastic break from summer to winter. In summer, you can relax in cozy cabins by the shimmering waters of Lake Massawippi, enjoy some of the rich, deep local wines, or wander the expansive outdoors. There's no less to do in winter, where a number of towns in the area transform into winter sports and skiing havens.

Things to see

If you choose to visit the area during the pristine white snow falls of winter, then you certainly won't be disappointed. A trip to the pine dotted peaks of Mont Sutton makes the perfect start to any skiing break, and there's an extensive variety of runs on offer, so whether you're a beginner finding your balance or a seasoned slalom veteran, there's plenty on offer. The vast spaces of the Parc Du Mont make a great alternative if you prefer to trek, show shoe, or take a high speed tube slide on the abundant snow. It's a great location in the summer too, offering hiking and mountain bike trails. For those looking for a little indulgence or post piste relaxation, then there's plenty of spas in the area, such as the Balnea Spa, which offers yoga classes and thermotherapy against the breathtaking views of the natural scenery.

Where to stay

With each town offering something a little different, where you choose to stay really comes down to the season you're visiting and preferred activities. In general, Ayer's Cliff can be a fantastic summer vacation choice, thanks to the fact it's right on the edge of the peaceful waters of Lake Massawippi. Bromont makes the perfect spot if you enjoy hiking in the summer or heading off-piste in the winter, as there's loads of trails for hiking and skiing in the untouched wilderness. Bromot is also not too far from Montreal, which can make traveling in a little easier.
