Nothing in the area was came into a locked dark building. Honestly didnât even stay the night I left 45 minutes into checking in. If you like ghosts and an old building this Is the place for you
The Karsten is not a high end hotel, but if you like the vibe of an antique store, you will love this hotel. Has views of Lake Michigan and is walking distance to variety of eating and entertainment establishments.
Booked a room for the weekend and was less than impressed with our stay. The king suite I requested was not what we were given. The hotel was dingy, and unkept at best. The bed sheets did not appear to be clean nor did the towels. They were stained and questionably washed. The fridge was dirty, and the shower appeared to be uncleaned as well. The curtains in our room were falling down, and the furniture looked dated and sourced from an old antique store. Not to mention the number of creepy dolls, and trinkets placed around the hotel. The place itself had a very off-putting vibe, which is very unfortunate considering it could be a great historical spot if it was well-kept. I would not recommend staying here. Stay at your own discretion.
The historic building was great to stay in. We heard the foot steps the first night, and the music the second. Could have been our imagination of course.
This is an OLD hotel. I love old hotels. It has personality, character and it's own identity. It also has wear and tear. If you want boring corporate cookie cutter facilities, stay elsewhere. If you want a true travel experience, stay here.
The owner is very nice and will go out of his way to make sure you're stay is amazing.
The hotel has so much history inside.
Loved the decor.
I really can't stress how amazing the owner is. He made our stay. He showed us the bar which is amazing with its orginal floor and stained glass.
Very old, rundown motel. We didn't even have curtains or blinds of any kind in our room. I felt very unsafe the entire night and would never stay here again
