The hotel is beautiful, beautifully located and beautifully apportioned need. It is sparkling clean and fresh. The restaurant menu is somewhat limited. The food was excellent, ample and reasonably priced.
The stay itself was nice enough, but upon checking in we were informed that we had two reservations. I only received confirmation for one. We got on the phone with both Expedia and Mr Hampton in guest services. Mr Hampton claimed the room was prepaid, but it was not and this was confirmed by Expedia. Mr Hampton insisted that only Expedia could refund us, but Expedia said they could not issue a refund because they did not collect the payment. Expedia authorized Sewanee Inn to issue a refund, but Mr Hampton refused. We finally asked and were transferred to someone else who explained they have a 72 hour cancellation policy to which I said I didnât even know about the second reservation because I never received confirmation and asked how could I cancel a reservation that I didnât know existed. I asked if they could make an exception to their cancellation policy and was told only the general manager has that authority. We still hope to resolve the issue.
We had a lovely stay at the Sewanne Inn. The lobby is beautiful and cozy and the staff was welcoming and went out of their way to accommodate us. Its proximity to the university is perfect for exploring the campus and hiking trails. We didnât golf or tennis but the facilities looked nice. The breakfast at Shakerag restaurant is not to be missed. Overall, we had a rejuvenating stay.
Peaceful and serene are good words to describe this property once you step foot inside the door. The construction and decor along with large open feel are welcoming. Staff is very helpful and knowledgable of the local area.
