The grounds are beautiful and kept up very nice.
We really only needed a bed to sleep in, because during the day we were at a friends house. The bed was nice and comfortable, but we were on the lower level and the sounds of the people above us were a annoying, heard every step they took and they started around 6 am and kept going. So we couldn't sleep in.
The place was super clean. The shower needs a little work with the pressure it was so low it took extra time to rinse off.
Didn't see much of the rest of the resort but what we did see looked interesting if we had more time to see it all.
If we go again, we will ask for floor upstairs and spend more time visiting the whole resort
The resort has a number of buildings. The building we were staying in did not have a mini- fridge, working ice machine or pull-out couch as was stated when the reservation was made. The furnishings were cheaply made and sparse. There was no help after the front desk closed at around 6. The bed was carelessly made. Not any particular attention to detail. The second room they moved us to was nicer but still no working ice machine.
Overall, this is a nice resort. We did experience some issues with dining and housekeeping, and the Beech Cottage could benefit from some simple renovations.
My husband and I both really liked the old fashioned buildings and atmosphere! It was almost like a trip back in time to an era not as complex and hurried as our world is today.
Yet, everything was clean, neat, and pleasing to the eye! All the staff were lovely in the dining area, and children were welcomed and accommodated for. There was a nice warm entry lounge with a fireplace, in the stone lodge we stayed in, & also in the main lodge. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend the Allenberry Resort to anyone looking for a rustic, serene place to stay for a respite from our busy world.
Overall the property was very nice. However, a fire/smoke alarm (false alarm) went off in the entire building five times beginning just before 5 a.m. To compensate, free breakfast was provided to anyone who had a room in that building.
