I’m not sure how this could have happened but when we arrived at the hotel at 6pm, the whole hotel had been taken by a wedding. There was nobody at reception and a wedding guest had to help us. What followed I’m sure would be material for a comedy sketch but was not at all funny for us especially with a 3 year old child. An employee rang the owner who we were told had got us rooms at the neighbouring hotel. We were told it was just down the road, nobody offered to show us the way. On arriving at the reception, we found out we had been lied to & the owner had not got us rooms as refused to pay. We had already paid Hotels.com upfront. Protracted arguments followed and further lies by the owner as he said he would be with us in half an hour. 2 hours later, fed-up, I went back to Zlaty Jelen to find the owner there, not making his way to us. Again a wedding guest had to help. The manageress eventually arrived & asked me to get in her car to collect my family as alternative accommodation had been found for us closer to the centre. Well I wish we had never got in the car as we were taken to a dive in the suburbs with strip neon lighting. After finally having to threaten legal action we were taken back to the neighbouring hotel, having again being lied to & told there were no available rooms there (the receptionist had already told us 3 hours ago, there were). At 22.20 we finally were granted access to a room. Shame as the setting was delightful.
