Weekend stay
Perfect location in the city for access to the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Soldier Field. Short walk from Millenium Park and countless dining options. Check in/ out was simple and the staff were very friendly. Room was large with nice view, shower was roomy with good water pressure and temp. Room was not spotless; there were hairs in the bathroom and mysterious spots near the bathroom lightswitch. Breakfast items were good, however the layout of the dining room was very congested and not intuitive so we were bumping shoulders with other guests the whole time. Pool was very small to accommodate guests from both hotels but it is also one of the only hotels in the area offering a pool. Overall we’d likely stay here again if only for the proximity to everything we’d want to do downtown.

Three days in Chicago
We came to Chicago for a three night layover from flying in and taking Amtrak back to California. We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Shedd Aquarium that we walked to visit, and it was a good price. It’s in a good area, and we enjoyed it. If there was a downer about the hotel is that the breakfasts were subpar even though it changed each day. It was clear that the eggs were either instant powdered eggs for scrambled eggs and thereby watery, and the omelette were clearly premade and frozen, as they were all identical. The other thing that needed attention is that the carpet in our room was worn going into the bathroom and was fraying. Would I stay in that hotel again? Sure if I wanted to be in that part of downtown Chicago, like I wanted to go to the Field Museum.

Not staffed well
Our checkin was delayed nearly an hour and a half. We sat in the lobby waiting while an air freshener of some sort kept going off with an unwelcoming sprau. I had booked months ago-a two bed-2 room corner suite. Needless to say, they were overbooked and gave us two king rooms. The rooms were not connecting but next to each other. This wasnt ideal as we have two children, one with special needs. Then we were given a complimentary $100 gift card to the adjoining restaurant. Which was nice, but one of kiddos has dietary restrictions and the other along with his special needs he only has a few items he eats--none were at the asian inspired restaurant. We knew the pool would be crowded one evening when we went (its spring break time), however they were out of towels. I went down to the front desk to let them know and i was told "theyre probably in the laundry" and i was waved off.

It was ok …
The room was generally comfortable and well-equipped, with a spacious fridge and a well-functioning kitchen that made self-catering easy. However, the room had a persistent stale smell which detracted from the overall experience. Most disappointing were the breakfast facilities: everything was served with disposable plastic utensils and plates, and there was no seating adequate space, making it a rather poor offering. Aside from that, everything else was fine.

Nice hotel, too bad it smells
The staff here is great, very responsive, friendly and helpful. Great views and location, but oh my goodness, the smells. When I checked in, I was put in a room that smelled like a freezer with something rotten in it. I asked to change rooms, and they immediately switched me (thanks again to the great staff), but this smelled like air freshener over cigarettes and marijuana. It’s a non-smoking hotel, but wherever the vents are pulling fresh air from must be getting it from a smoking patio or something, because every time the hvac ran, it pumped more and more cigarette and marijuana smells in, and when I asked about it, they mentioned that they do hear that feedback with some frequency. Anyway, nice room, great staff, smelled awful and worse any time the heater kicked on.
