Absolutely lovely.
The staff was super nice and we had a blast. The room was clean, warm and very comfortable, with some small cake at our arrival.
We ate at the restaurant and it was really good, the breakfast was too. They had milk alternative for our son and everything was great.
Perfect
Very nice hotel, the rooms are original and pleasantly decorated. Very pleasant stay. We were very well received by the manager with clear explanations. Please note that the restaurant closed at 6:00 p.m.
Food is great. Super friendly staff. Nice location. But as a business traveler it wasnât ideal. Check in isnât hard but itâs awkward as you check in from the cafe. The room wasnât super clean, especially the bathroom. WiFi password written in the room wasnât right. The location is convenient but it was loud. The pubs were loud and then the high street was loud in the morning.

Great stay, our room was perfect and sparkling clean. The staff were really helpful and friendly.
Great find in a nice village near Galway. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Good selections at the associated restaurant! Highly recommend! Tight parking.
Drove around Ireland with my son for almost three weeks staying in a different place each night and this was by far our favorite hotel. Lovely clean comfortable rooms friendly staff. Hotel, cafe across the street, and pizza place next door are all owned by the same nice guy and what really set this place apart other than the great rooms was the food. Included breakfast is basically anything off the menu at the cafe across the street and the pizza place had the best pizza we had in Ireland. They were sold out otherwise we would have happily extended our stay another day. Pub up the street has good live music too. Highly recommend this place!
The people are great and the property is good but there are a few things to be aware of if you end up in room 1. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Room 1 overlooks the street and is a good location but there is a bit of noise and some early morning deliveries of kegs makes the place shudder. The lighting in the room is poor. It is an old building with lots of creaks but I donât know what the people were doing in the room above us but they we could hear every step they took. Room 1 has a couple of maintenance issues that need fixed - the sink tap and a sunken spot on the floor in the bathroom entrance. Breakfast was delicious
I was a bit confused when first pulling up during check in hours. I wasnât sure which building to go into. They had closed up early. I finally asked a worker that was leaving for the day, where I should go. And she told me that the pizzeria could help me. I turned around to head toward that and a nice fellow (Jeremy?) was sweeping the sidewalk and greeted me by name, knowing I was probably the last to check in, and someone told him I would be arriving at some point. Other than that. The staff was kind to explain and show me where I could park and enter and exit the building. The parking lot was through a very tight passage way behind the building. But it was perfect nonetheless! Had we been up to walking more we may have taken the train to Galway, but instead we self drove from Athenry and explored Portumna and surrounding more rural areas. It was one of the most magical times we had. Found a castle and the guy that lived in it invited us in for tea. That might not have been as easy to do if we stayed anywhere other than The old Barracks. We tried a late night takeaway place around the corner and it was just delicious kababs. The pizzeria was amazingly good too!!! Wood fired deliciousness!
The room was good, but there was only a small wardrobe for storage, no nightstands, no place other than the beds to sit on. The small chest held extra pillows, the drawer information about the B and B. And it stuck badly. The staff were wonderful.
Wonderful host checked us in and carried bags to second level. Had welcome treats and showed us how everything worked in room. Nice breakfast and highly recommend for a stop off for an evening or quiet place to stay outside Galway. Charming quiet town.
