Bad service
The room wasn’t ready on time ( 2 pm ) . The manager didn’t care we are waiting and we have kids . I went back at 2 pm to ask when the room be ready , she responded not sure , we can’t do much . We call you when it’s ready . not even apologise for wasting our time . That’s the worst Novotel . The aircon not been serviced for very long time , very dusty. The pillow stained ( yellow )

We recently spent 6 days at this hotel with our families and friends. The pool was amazing, kids club activities were great too, buffet breakfast was good but not much changes during the period we stayed. The hotel is bit out dated but overall was well maintained. However the quality and level of customer service was very inconsistent. We had encountered some staff were super friendly and helpful, some were however very grumpy and impolite. Special thanks to the duty manager Becca, who was being so helpful and professional when we encountered some serious issues within our hotel room. However we had a terrible experience on our last with the bar and restaurant manager called Blaire. She had very poor attitudes and very unprofessional customer service.

We really enjoyed our week's stay at the property, the pool facilities & swim up bar were brilliant! We paid extra for the buffet breakfast each day & we couldn't recommend this enough! Having breakfast available each morning was brilliant! One less decision to think on, while on holiday & would be a great idea for anyone planning on doing any day trips to start with a delcious breaky with a huge range of options. All staff we encountered were so friendly & super helpful! The hotel is only 8mins from the airport (approx $29 trip by taxi each way). The Cairns aquarium is just down the road, the night markets around 5mins walk away. We found it super convenient & well located. Our room was nice & neat, the air con was great & the bed was quite comfy.

The food at the restaurant was atrocious. The pool was packed so full with No real room to move. I understand it is a busy time of year. But the downstairs bar was noisy and overcrowded. Overcharged our credit card in 2 transactions a total of $950. Was rectified but shouldn’t have happened.

Hotel itself was fine. The rooms and facilities were overall very clean and nice, with an easy walk to the Esplanade and Cairns Central Shopping Center. The food was also very good. However, I don’t know if it was because we went during the off season or what, but there was NEVER anyone when you needed them. No concierge, and front desk always had a queue a mile long and people just gave up and walked away. Checking in took a ridiculous amount of time. Calls to the front desk always went unanswered and we ended up having to just manage things ourselves, from calling a taxi to fixing a malfunctioning toilet, because we couldn’t ever reach anyone. Also, I asked for a birthday surprise cake for my son, which they brought 3 days too early and with a complimentary bottle of wine, which was nice, but seeing as it was for an 8 year old (which I informed them of) he probably would’ve been happier with a coke or juice. Also, I’m not sure what housekeeping did other than make the beds and straighten the towels. Nothing was cleaned, and after the second day we just took care of it ourselves and kept the “Do not Disturb” sign on the rest of our stay. Also, a big point of contention for us was that there wasn’t a shop in the hotel where we could just go buy soft drinks, snacks, coffee etc. It either had to be through room service or you had to go down to the bar/coffee shop and hope that someone was manning the desk. I could write more but I’m out of space. Do not recommend.
