Very scenic location
Our stay at the Gathering Place on Golden Ponds was very enjoyable. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The location is very scenic and the room was decorated beautifully. The reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is that we had to use a bathroom on a different floor so had to walk up the stairs and through their living area to get to the bathroom. However there is one located on the same floor that was in use by other guests. We enjoyed looking around at Old Hastings Mercantile and Gallery which is just down the road and is amazing.

Lovely historic cottage
A lovely cozy cabin type house nessled in the woods! The house is full of history and a must see for any nature loving enthusiast. The owners were very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable in their home. We ate dinner in Bancroft at the local pub! If going up in the area again, it will be on our list of places to stay again!

Al and Annette were Superb hosts! Their property is a hexadecagon, unique in design and full of character. The breakfast was wonderful with home made jams , toast and personal touch. The place lived up to its description “where friends become family”. We would like to visit again with family and friends. And of course one more thing. Al and Annette are talented artistes at their works of art which they have created so passionately! Thank you Al and Annette!

We were welcomed by Al and Annette and their sweet girl Ginger who right away made us feel very comfortable. Our room was spacious, and very clean, the bed was extremely comfy and we enjoyed a very good restful sleep. Breakfast was delicious. This property and the owners are absolute gems. The host was incredibly kind and accommodating when we were running late for check in and still gave us a lovely tour so that we could settle in comfortably. The rooms are beautifully laid out and filled with thoughtful touches. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! If you are lucky enough to get to try Al's blueberry pancakes count your blessing because they are fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future.

A tranquil retreat in the forest
Everything was wonderful - the room and bathroom were bright, clean, and comfortably appointed. I really enjoyed looking out from the room to the beautiful garden full of wildflowers. The property itself is an absolute work of art - the house itself has a unique and noteworthy architecture and construction that was fascinating to learn about. I loved looking out from the wrap-around deck to the peaceful forest pond below and walking around the grounds, enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. I only wish it had been a clear night to see the stars! I was offered a choice of breakfast entrees, and chose an asparagus omelet, which was perfectly prepared by Al. I really enjoyed my stay and plan to return the next time I'm in the area. What a gem of a property and Annette and Al are wonderful hosts.

We were looking at properties in the area and needed a place to stay overnight. Annette and Al were wonderful hosts and gave us the skinny on places to eat and nearby attractions. Not to mention that their property was gorgeous and a real treat to wake up in and go for a meander around the pond with a coffee.
