Unhappy w/rude desk clerk re refund of $200 deposi
I've stayed at Hyatt House Cypress 3x. I have no complaints re: the room & complimentary breakfast. I can't say the same about the confusion I experienced with the front desk staff during checkout on day after Xmas. I paid for the room when I booked it, but was charged a $200 deposit to my card when I checked in. The Mgr. suggested I charge it as Credit instead of Debit because he said debit takes longer to get your money back. I chose to charge it as Credit, but I couldn’t understand why debit took longer since it's like handing someone cash. When I checked out I asked the lady at the desk when the $186.00 balance would be credited back to my card. (I only spent $14.00 for parking). She said it wasn't actually charged to my card & should disappear within a few days. After I left, I called my bank & was told it was an actual "Pending" charge that had already been deducted from my account. I called the hotel & ended up talking to Christian, who told me I had no choice how it was charged to my card & he didn’t know when the money would be refunded. I asked for the number to the Corp office. When I called & explained the situation they transferred me back to the hotel & I got Christian again. I asked for the Corp number again & he rudely told me "I gave it to you when you called before & you even repeated it to me." That really made me mad. It's been 5 days since then & the charge is still on my account. I will not stay there again. My bank has suggested I dispute the charge.
