We liked the location - close to nice walking areas. Staff at front desk were pleasant and helpful. Liked the calm courtyard area with the two turtles. Downsides: breakfasts were not that good, room was not refreshed daily, shower water was quite cold, and wifi from our room was sporadic.

I absolutely loved the staff, they’re ready to help, always smiling, truly exemplified Peruvian hospitality. I stayed at the Bayview ten years ago when it was a nicer place, I guess the pandemic deteriorated business. The attention paid to the customers, however, hasn’t changed a bit. Great people, specially Señor Bronson :)

There’s no hot water in my first room. If I want to take a hot shower, I have to pay extra 20 usd per night. Fine, I paid for it and asked the front desk to help me move the suitcases because there’s no elevator, I waited for 20 minutes and went to the front desk. No one is there, I called for five minutes and finally someone showed up. Finally I moved to the new room, there’s only one towel which is so old that I thought it’s the floor towel. I called to give me the floor towel and hand towel, and waited for a long time for it! Ridiculous! Not to mention the unstop knocking on my door at 8:40, waking me up! It was such a bad experience in Peru!

They could not find our reservation, until after much arguing and presentation of physical evidence. Then they made us pay in advance for the full stay of 8 nights, being afraid we would like the hotel and walk away. We didn't and couldn't. The staff were very friendly and often had to go out of their way to make up for other deficiencies. It takes several minutes for the water to get hot. Toilet paper may not be thrown in the bowl, but in a wastepaper basket, which is not very hygienic. Breakfast is continental with eggs, but the lady in charge very friendly told us if we wanted anything, all we had to do was ask, Location is very good, near restaurants, shopping etc. This is a hotel full of contrasts and needs the more engaged management that the staff deserve..

Needs improvement
The hotel overall is nice. The bed was comfortable. One thing I would suggest because this is an annoyance to me and this occurs at many hotels I occupy. The wifi password on the printed out paper was incorrect. This tells me that the management is a bit lazy and furthermore, how things are ignored else where thoughout the property. It's the little things that say the most. I liked the large turtle in the courtyard though!

Looked Nice
From the outside it looked nice. But the room was very small and felt like a cave. Upon check in the woman was very nice and helpful, but later that evening when returning to the hotel we rang the bell for almost 20 minutes before anybody let us back in the hotel. The towels, soap, shampoo were VERY basic motel/low quality stuff. The pillows were not comfortable. No working air conditioning (they did bring us a fan though). The location of the hotel was very central so that helped. The hot water took a very long time to heat up and the carpets were FILTHY. Wear shoes in the room or your feet will be black
The carpets are very dirty.

I didn't like the way that the property was shown on Expedia, options made it look like we were going to have breakfast included when this was never going to be available. I blame Expedia for this issue. The personal was nice enough to change our room since our first had no plugs near the bed, they were on the other side of the room, and was loud since it was street side; the new room had a balcony and was not street side so it was a lot quieter and had plugs near the bed. The old room had a fan but it was very loud and we weren't going to be able to sleep, the new room had a stand fan which when we left the balcony door open was pleasant. Overall staying in the old building, which has no A/C, was good but not great. Their employees are very nice and made up for multiple shortcomings.
