What happened to this charming, magical place?
I don’t even know where to begin with the Santa Paula Inn. We have stayed here multiple times in the past and have always loved the comfy, charming atmosphere. That Santa Paula Inn no longer exists. This place somehow managed to go from a quaint squeaky clean little spot just steps away from Main Street that offered a huge breakfast and original and cozy aesthetics, to an outright filthy money pit. Our room was out right disgusting, there was dirt EVERYWHERE from the windows to the walls. We thought the windows were fogged up, no they were straight covered in filth. The corners of the room and electronics were covered in grime and there was standing water in our shower the entire time we stayed here. The full breakfast, a mainstay staple every time we visited in the past, has been replaced with a coffee pot with dry creamer and Splenda packets, and there is no one ever managing the office. What happened to this charming, magical place? What happened to the friendly owners who took pride in providing great hospitality and service, roaming the halls asking how your stay went or what you thought of the breakfast, if you needed anything for your room or stay? It doesn’t’ exist anymore, it’s been replaced with cheaper thrift store aesthetics and owners that do not care or want to be seen or interacted with, and surely do not want to help. This place has turned into a HUGE disappointment and can’t imagine it will last much longer.

We got to experience local culture. This Inn was on the same block as food trucks and entertainment of dancing. Our room was spacious, 2 beds and a kitchenette. It was clean and updated. We weren't bothered and other than the festivities next door, it was quiet. Would highly recommend.

Great location
This hotel is 1/2 a block from Main Street with lots of shopping and restaurants. There is parking on the backside of the hotel (opposite side of the building from the library). We walked to several restaurants within a couple of miles of the hotel.

Very accommodating host who made coming and going very easy. Room was cute and had character, with everything we needed. Not the most soft, comfortable beds we've every slept in, but they were fine. Plenty of space, extra closet space, windows with screens to open for fresh air, fully stocked bathroom. A short walk to downtown for breakfast and shopping.

6/10 Good

The main selling point of this Inn was the lovely patio out back, where I enjoyed eating breakfast. However, there are drinking establishments with outdoor live music playing until 10pm each night, that make it impossible to have any peace & quiet in the rooms on that side of the building. In the room, there was no where to put my clothes except keep them in my suitcase. No dresser, no shelves. The mattress did appear to be fairly new, and once the noise stopped I was able to sleep well. I would not stay here again.

If you are looking for a Hilton, then go to a Hilton. If you want a quiet, comfortable stay with a nostalgic, vintage atmosphere, this is the inn. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, antiques. Morning coffee on the back patio to get your day started.

We felt like we were in Europe, the inn was so quaint and beautiful. Incredible view with mountains all around. Next time we'll take more time and enjoy breakfast on the beautiful colorful patio.

The stay was okay. Service was good. Our towels had hair on it from different people, and the towels were musty smelling. The swamp cooler was falling apart and held together with tape. The bed was okay...sagging in the middle of it.
