The hotel is lovely and staff great . The area around is not very safe or nice but the hotel is very well mantained and clean. Is like it doesnt belong to the location. You need a car to move comfortably.

Not ewr much, on the lower end. Colon was filthy, something about the trash collector on strike. They are doing well with the hand they have been dealt.

Quality rooms in Colon
Quality rooms in a location convenient for railway station, bus station and town centre. Feels secure, and, as result, slightly claustrophobic. Restaurant has a good choice, but limited hours.

Nice enough hotel in a bombed out hellscape
The hotel is fine. Hot water, AC, cable with premium channels, good wifi, clean. I do agree with other reviewers that breakfast should be included for the price. The restaurant is a buffet style diner that also serves local clientele. Prices seem fair. The main issue is the neighborhood. I did not give much credence to previous reviewers' observations of the neighborhood because, in my experience, tourist tend to be a bit dramatic. No so in this case! The neighborhood literally looks like a war zone. There are 'bombed out' buildings, trash, debris, and feces in the streets, homeless people sleeping outside the hotel, and major drainage problem. Since 2011, I have amassed over 3 years of experience living and traveling in Central America and Colón is the first place that I can honestly say I felt uncomfortable walking in the streets. The government supposedly has a plan to renew the city, so stay tuned. Now, it is not the hotel staff's fault that Colón is in the shape that it is, and if you need to come here, the hotel is nice, but prepare yourself mentally and bring some cab money.

6/10 Good

clean hotel in a rather awful city
the interior of the hotel is quite striking--new, whitewashed, airy and open, wrought-iron railings overlooking a small multi-storey central atrium (watch your children though so they don't play near/on the railings!) friendly staff. when i arrived, there were no sheets or pillowcases (!), but the staff quickly corrected this issue. The neighbourhood of the hotel is poor to say the least, but really, the entire city of colon is rather unsafe and dilapidated, and that's being very charitable. The government plans to bulldoze large segments of the city and revitalize buildings, but it is a really rough city and this process will take years. Quite an awful city, and I've been all over the world. There appeared to be a fenced-in parking lot with guard , and other local vehicles also used this large parking lot overnight (such as the bakery truck, the local delivery trucks). Believe me, in the city of Colon, you sure wouldn't want to park your vehicle on the street at night! In striking contrast, the nearby town of Portobelo (by nearby, I mean a 1 to 1.5 hour bus ride from the Colon bus station, but faster by car) is absolutely charming, quiet, and friendly with three beautiful spanish forts, a pleasant location on the water, nearby beaches, boats, some plesant restaurants... stay in that town instead!!!

JUST ABOUT OK
The room is ok but breakfast should definitely be included. Although we were very close to the shopping area the location is not really safe in the surroundings especially at night.
