Recently under new ownership and renovations under way. Well priced for location.

2/10 Poor

The room I stayed in (215) did not have a shower curtain for both nights. Rather than find an appropriate room, we were given towels to block the water. We had to ask to have the towels changed out the first night (despite promises to have that done for us). The extra towels brought in just created a mess and a lot of work. The floor was soaked and it was an uncomfortable experience. Not what I expected or should have experienced for the price paid. The staff were all very polite but seemed overwhelmed. For example, the common bathroom on the first floor was dirty with an overflowing trash basket that had not been cleaned in days. This was sub-standard across the board. Recommend other options until they fix these basic problems.

The room I booked was dirty especially the toilet and the view looked onto a wall. Thanks to the kind man on reception I was moved to a much better room.

4/10 Fair

The hotel is in a pretty terrible state. The new owners (who told us that the place hasn't been re-decorated since 1960) were very nice but they're still charging £115 a night to stay here. Storm Amy meant there was a total power cut – which wasn't their fault, but being offered a free drink after surviving a 15-minute walk from a nearby restaurant in a force nine gale would have been nice. Also, even without hot drinks and the use of a toaster, the breakfast on offer was not nice. I hope the new owners get it together, but I won't be visiting the Lochalsh Hotel again.

Not great.

Hotel molto datato, camera solo parzialmente ristrutturata. Il tappeto aveva un piccolo insetto bianco e le lenzuola erano lavate male. Colazione scadente. Personale gentile.

Terrible hotel. It’s starting to decay and beyond repair. It’s moldy and damp.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I look forward to seeing this hotel after it comes out of a badly needed remodel.

Room was lovely with a water view. New bed and carpet. Spacious and bathroom had a bathtub. Helpful staff. Older property under renovation.

2/10 Poor

This hotel was a 4 star on expedia when I reserved it, and a 3.4 star when I got there. Floorboards were falling in under the carpet in the upstairs and downstairs hallway. The tub and sink were rusty and it smelled like rotting carpet with cleaning solvents to cover it up. After having a meal that included freezer burnt peas, we headed upstairs to find all this. We said we could not stay there. The manager understood. I asked him to step outside in privacy, and he confided in me thant they just bought it, and it will be remodeled and right now 18 our of 20 guests leave mad. He said he would close the reservation and Expedia would give me a refund. Now the establishment won't answer me or expedia. The newer reviews are fake and I am out 4.5 star money for two nights we did not even stay in the hotel We had to drive all over to find a vacancy during high-season. This place should not be listed on Expedia or any other platform. It's false advertising, and I am now on my 5th try with getting a refund - 4th with Expedia, who needs approval from the hotel scamming innocent customers to give the refund. My other try was calling the hotel. I tried several times, as did Expedia, and they don't answer. I finally got the same manager, and he could do nothing, said their reservation department is off-site and deals with Expedia. But they don't, because they don't answer customers or expedia. The hotel was mostly empty.

A work in progress, excited to see how it goes

Great location for anything you want to do in the area, we could see the Skye bridge from our room. Food was lovely and the room we got was spot on Staff were amazing, Kanti at reception was brilliant, very friendly and accommodating

Basic but expensive stay!

I was celebrating my birthday so we had quite high expectations and hopes. There was no TV in the room, and on a super hot day no air con or fans, so we had to bring in our own. Bed was comfy, and the shower gels

What chaos! We first arrived at the hotel at 1:30pm and were told the room was not ready, but were assured we could have a sea view room. We returned at 9pm to the news that there was NO room available, and that they had tried to contact us. They didn’t send an email till 6:15pm, more than 2hrs after check in time! Absolutely unacceptable. Maybe it’s just as well, as the lobby had an odd smell, the dining room was full of clutter and the L was missing from the HOTEL sign outside :-(

10/10 Exceptional

Our room was lovely with a beautiful view over the loch and the Isle of Skye. In spite of being in the middle of a major refurbishment the staff were extremely corteous and helpful and made every effort to ensure our stay was a good one. The room was clean and comfortable with a really good shower and we had a lovely tray of tea, coffee and biscuits waiting for us on our arrival.. We will certainly make a return visit some time in the near future.

Dont book a room here…

The hotel was in a very bad condition, the pictures looks alright but the hotel was really old and nothing wrong with that, but if it was renovated within the last 10 years would maybe be better. The price compared to what you get is completely insane. The beds where so terrible you could feel all the springs in your back and we couldn’t control the heat on our room.
