Tour of Scotland
Looked like it had closed down. No electric in bar or restaurant so had to eat evening meal elsewhere. Shabby and in desperate need of an upgrade. It was clean and we did get a bigger room for the 3 of us. Breakfast greasy.

Convenient spot in Alyth.
Lovely spot overlooking the river, staff were wonderful, welcoming and helpful. Also dried our some very wet walking gear for us. Big thank you. Comfortable bed, good shower. Breakfast was somewhat basic and service a bit slow, but otherwise fine.

4/10 Fair

Serving staff pleasant and helpful. Nice breakfasts but could do with fresh fruit and yoghurts. Cleanliness issues - clothes found in drawer when checked in, empty crisp packet and sweet wrapper behind bedside cabinet, hairs in bath plug hole, stains on mattress protector. Daily cleaning and change of towels lacking. Replenishment of bathroom accessories a nd tea/coffee etc lacking.Little reasonable storage. Expelair and light not working. Had to run tap for 5 mins to get hot water. Could feel springs in mattress. Furnishing VERY tired looking. Thin curtains.

2/10 Poor

Positive : The staff were friendly. Negative : Thin springy mattresses, 2/3 light bulbs missing, non-working light over bathroom mirror, 5 mins for hot water, dirty and in desperate need of updating, cracks in walls and ceiling, cheap soaps, swinging, non-closing sliding door to bathroom, noisy in the evenings from local youths in town square, and no BBC on room TV!! (Hotel staff’s response was - there has never been BBC in that room)

10/10 Exceptional

Flooding by the nearby bern about two years ago did significant damage to this hotel. Much renovation has been done with the dining room and lounge areas now fresh and new. Renovations to the pub area are now underway and it too will be very nice when completed. The upstairs rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained. Every morning we were treated to full breakfast cooked to order. Dinner meals were excellent! Outstanding is the staff whose hospitality made us feel very welcome! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

8/10 Very good

We were very happy, comfortable and well looked after by the staff. The room was just what we needed for our one night, with an interesting outlook over the square, with fairly lights in the trees! Food both in the evening and at breakfast was great. Only blips were that there was no real ale in the bar and few veggie options on the menu. Oh, and ventillation/extractor in the bathroom would be good. Great that the hotel id pet friendly...our dog was very pleased too! If we had not already booked ahead we would have stayed for a second night.

10/10 Exceptional

The staff were really polite, friendly and helpful. We had the family room, for 2 nights. Plenty of space, bathroom was immaculate. Bedding was immaculate. Towels, fresh and fluffy. We were given a late breakfast, was late on booking out yet wasn't rushed at all. I can't praise this hotel enough... I didn't give top rating for comfort purely for the reason the beds were too firm for our personal preference.
