1-night family trip

Very run down hotel. Noisy fan constantly running in the bathroom. Did have all you needed in the room. And the bed was comfy. Just very three star accommodation and the price reflects it so can’t complain. Would only stay for one night for a quick stop over.

Our stay was good, room was large & also had a separate bedroom with two single beds, did not use that room but would have if there was a queen bed instead of singles. We had a balcony which was pool view. Nice to sit out there in the evening. It was a pity that the pool was not in a clean state, they obviously have a problem with birds as the pool was littered with bird feathers & looked unkempt. Its such a shame the pool area is not looked after as it wouldve been lovely to relax by the pool. Overall the hotel was good & very close to shops, cafes & restaurants.

We didn’t like this hotel at all. It said in the information that the restaurant was closed for renovations, but the receptionist said it had been closed for 4 years. The room smelled as though they’d been cleaning the carpet/furnishings with chemicals. It was very large and very few people staying. Would not stay here again.

The property was clean, but the inside was dark uninviting, lots of lights out, bed was just ok. The patio chair cushions were flat as pancakes. The car parking was a night mare as only acess to hotel was onthe first floor in which they shared with other businesses so we had to walk our luggage down to flights of ramps... Staff were awesome. Hitel rating i would give a 3 star wouldn't go back. I

The venue looks like it was lovely in its day but it is tired and dated. There is pigeon poop on the ledges outside and the pool needs a revamp. The hotel could be done up beautifully and it would be amazing. Pluses were that the room was fine. Nice staff at check in. Great to be able to park our vehicles.

Had an excellent experice overall there. Staff were awesome.
2-night family trip

No working lifts. Pool area barren dirty seating and umbrellas. Damp smell in corridors. No restaurant permanently closed. Outdoor cushions ripped and dirty. Tv reception rubbish. Can't get hold of owner to complain. No milk provided. People partying till 3am in pool area disturbed all patrons. Will not stay there again. No refund offered by staff.

Well positioned. Room was huge with an outside balcony that was also very large that overlooked the river. Awesome receptionist and friendly room staff. Only downside was extremely noisy neighbours and constant banging, maybe doors being slammed. Overall happy enough with our 2 night stay.
2-night family trip

6/10

Check in was not the best. No staff available. Phone to ring for service but went to message bank. Confusion over where to park car. Lift out of order. Restaurant closed for renovations. Most television currently unavailable. Kettle and tea bags available plus used coffee sachets containing no coffee. Some light bulbs not working. Toilet had brown ring under rim as if not cleaned properly for some time. Shower over bath felt unsafe climbing in and out of as there was nothing available for support. Apart from that the room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and a great view of the river. Unfortunately was the word used several times by reception. Some people management and housekeeping skills would enhance this hotel.

Right in the centre of Gisbourne, so Good for all amenities.

The building is a bit of a maze - having to be dropped off at the front of the building to book in (no parking available), then drive around the building, to the back, with a card to allow access to the parking area - up a steep ramp (we had a 4x4, so height was a concern.) After parking, we found our room & immediately saw the bedcover was full of old stains - also a small tear in the bedsheet & the pillows had no cover, so a stain that was on the actual pillow was visible through the pillowslip! Fortunately we took our own pillows. Upon using the shower (which was over the bath with a glass screen on the side) found it leaked quite badly on the edge attached to the wall. When the room light was switched on, visible hand marks were on the wall art - Lightbulb was dead above the refrigerator area. The carpet looked quite shabby with stains & marks. Overall we were disappointed as the location was good, being near eateries and the view from the room was also nice, looking out over the river. It was also quiet, despite the fact it appeared to be quite full - (from the number of vehicles in the parking area.)
