First the positives, warm welcoming and helpful staff. Bedding was clean and towels ok. Negatives, very tired property, not well maintained and dirty in many areas. No tv channels available in room, no spoon to make tea (stirred it with the non-brush end of my toothbrush). The area where the hotel is positioned is not the best, I felt a little uncomfortable walking back to my room at around 11pm. Personally, although the staff were good, I will not stay there again.

The hotel is in a good location however the couple that was staying in the room next to mine where continuously fighting and arguing with each other until the early hours of the morning with one night them playing loud music until 5am which if you are in Newport for work and cannot sleep due to this is not good

Amazing value - the room was extraordinary cheap. Because of that, I can forgive a fair bit such as a blpcked shower and that a lot of the decor was rather tired (although the place was obviously part way through a refurb). Facilities wise it was basic, but did have everything you really need (desk, tea and coffee facilities) if you don't mind a shared bathroom and no restaurant.

Clean linen on bed, shower had 4 leaks and grime in corners, carpet hoovered but wearing thin with lots of stains. Very noisy guests, one occassion police came through at 4 am, other night birthday party until 02.30am, wedding party load music until 12pm midnight, one can hear next room tv easily making it difficult for peace and sleep. Price may seem cheaper than competition but only by £10-£20 per night.

My Property was stolen, on my 1st day; almost certainly by a member of Staff; the Police are involved. The Hotel appears to be, recently, under new Management and they are taking bookings before basic Fire Safety has been put in place; making things worse by ignoring key Fire Safety Regulations. The rooms are ok, with a couple of 'quirks'. All in all I'd give this place a miss. I have also reported them to the Gwent Fire Safety Authority.
