The hotel was in a horrid state, wet toilet paper on the first stair a sign of things to come. The bed covers had hair on them; the shared bathrooms looked like they'd suffered tsunami damage. It was 2-stars - purportedly - but had the vibe of being a hostel for the deranged and disaffected (which is no critique of the other clients, but not what we were expecting), which didn't do wonders for our sense of security, especially given the valuable luggage we were carrying. We forfeited our nights' accommodation and stayed elsewhere, finding somewhere cheaper, much cleaner, friendlier and more welcoming, and not so far away.
