Disappointing in Dunedin - not an apartment

Not so good - we booked a 2-bedroom apartment months ago - in February for a May booking- as we were travelling a couple and adult daughter - but this was not provided - just 2 rooms next to each other. I have stayed in Quest apartments often, but this was disappointing in the Dunedin Quest -it's not an apartment - it was a pretty average, smallish motel-style room. Very basic servicing - just replaced wet towels -didn't make bed. Plus, they missed my daughter's room altogether. Check-in was a nuisance as we were given one key for one room and nothing for the second room. Had to go back and get extra keys. We paid a pretty high price for pretty average accom and probably not choose Quest again based on this

Dunedin stay

Cons. No safe, no aircon and pay for parking in secure carpark. Pros. Good central location for main town and train station. Only minutes walk. Lots of eating places nearby and a large supermarket close by. Hotel clean, tidy, friendly staff and room had microwave fridge and sink. Cutlery also supplied which allowed us to make breakfast in room. Additional bonus was a washing machine and dryer in laundry room which was free to use and hotel even supplied washing powder free of charge. Cannot fault staff and would have no hesitation in staying at Quest Hotel again.

The property in general was above average and we would certainly recommend others to stay there. If you are looking for faults we would perhaps mention two:- Traffic noise and inferior quality toilet paper which could be rectified very easily.

Good location

A very good location for the city centre snd restaurants which is just as well because don't expect to prepare anything other than basic food in the kitchenette. Limited cooking equipment and the electric hob is next to useless.

Lovely time in Dunedin

The room was well appointed with small kitchenette and separate bedroom. Washer and dryer in the bathroom. Full size tub/shower. We reserved a parking spot in advance so everything was very easy. One block from a grocery store and several blocks to shopping and restaurants. Only thing that would have helped was instructions on stove and dishwasher.

Upon arrival when entering the studio apartment, it was stuffy and hot. The only way of cooling was to open the window which made the room very noisy with the constant passing traffic. Overall the apartment was perfect in every other way, I know Dunedin is rarely hot, but in an East facing room on a sunny day with no air conditioner this was a problem for me. Bed was comfortable, bathroom great, location perfect, staff friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.
