The little boutique hotel Palazzo Consiglia is located in a beautiful historical building in the heart of Valletta, and we really enjoyed our stay there. The room we got (Retromoda) is located on the second floor. It’s spacious, comfortable, and has an open bathroom with a large walk-in shower. Everyday we got two free bottles of water, and we also appreciated the Dolce Gusto coffee machine in the room (and free coffee capsules). The included breakfast was pretty good. There was a large variety of bread, eggs, cheese, ham, yoghurts, but also salmon, jams, honey, cereals and fresh fruits. However, the quality of certain ingredients (cereals, sausage and bacon) could have been a bit better... Except for the one day when their coffee machine was broken, we got great cappuccinos and latte macchiatos. Since the main breakfast room is located in a vaulted room, it’s a bit dark inside and there’s not much room to move around. There are also a few tables in the hotel’s courtyard, but the place is exposed to air currents because of the hotel’s front door. We also found that the two young ladies among the breakfast staff were not very efficient, they walked around but didn’t do much, and had to wait for their colleagues (the Asian lady and the young man) to do everything for them. The rest of the staff was however very helpful and friendly. We also loved the rooftop terrace, perfect to have an afternoon nap in the sun!
