The checkin process is the worst ever. Checkin is @ 3pm, rooms aren’t ready until after 5pm. This is unacceptable after traveling from the US from 3am. The staff @ dining is unfriendly & most of them hardly speak English. Simone & Sharon were kind & friendly at breakfast and lunch. It’s a beautiful property on Maho beach, lack any good entertainment & overall just boring and lackluster. Bar across the street opens til 3am if you’re looking for some vitality.

When checking in room was not ready had to keep checking to see if room was ready. Walls are so thin I heard the people next to me snoring and loud talking, spoke to front desk they said it was bc a door was open next night same thing. Even spoke with manager the next day for same issue,Didn’t get any real good sleep or any privacy bc if I could hear them I’m sure they could hear me. Had to check out early due to family emergency and they refused to refund me my last night.

I won’t be rushing back
Amongst a sea of ineptitude and laziness there are a few staff who do their job well. The food was mediocre, but at least you get to eat using crockery and metal cutlery, and not paper plates with plastic utensils. In fact, we had all dinners outside of the hotel as the standard was not great. There are plenty of examples of the food on other reviews. The elevators/lifts were dirty and not cleaned once in my 3 days there. The gym was ok, but very drab. It could’ve been great if there had been a window to the outside world. However, great location, great views of the beach, ocean and aircraft landing at the airport. Shame that laziness has let this hotel fall into mediocrity.

It was an all inclusive but the website should have said tips were not only appreciated but expected! Just make sure you bring about $50-100 in singles! Also, don't book thru a third party. Hotels, Expedia, ete. Just go straight thru the sonesta Maho. If you want any change at all and you booked thru a third party it's nearly impossible. If you book thru Sonesta directly they treat you like family! That's just what I learned... Hope you enjoy your Vacation!

Air Conditioner dont get cold
Oneca Williams Manager onsite needs to be trained with Customer Relations. Before arriving to the hotel they tried to charge my card the full amount when I requested to pay at the hotel. I then received an email if I didnt pay I wouldnt be able to stay. When I arrived the AC wasnt cold in the room, I spoke with Oneca she kept telling me maintenence would repair it. Each say they came to the room saying the would repair but nothing was done. The manager didnt offer a fan or a room change. It was a horrible experience at this hotel. I wouldnt recommend visiting this hotel ever again. She then proceeded to send A. Mowery to come and speak with me because she couldnt face me with all her lies she told me the entire stay at the hotel. At the end they tried to tell me they couldnt compensate me with anything because it was out of their control.
