4/10 Fair

This is a tale of two hotels. The size of the room was great and it had been remodeled in the not too distant past. However, the check-in was not very welcoming since once the front desk clerk unlocked the door to let me out of the 100 degree heat, all you could see were signs about what didn’t work at this hotel. No pool, no laundry (crossed out so maybe?), no working phones and no ice machine. Didn’t make for a pleasant welcome. The room smelled so strongly of smoke that I went back to ask if he’d given us a smoking room. He said no problem it probably came from outside. I never saw anyone smoking outside so it must have been the people stomping around upstairs all night or the people next door who asked us for gas money. Coming back through town, I’ll stay someplace else.

The nightstand light did not work. Several power outlets did not work. The TV did not work. The room was cheap, only $61 and we could see why. The bed was comfortable however but the pillows were too flat. I guess we got what we paid for and I cancelled my reservation for two days later. No thanks.

2/10 Poor

I thought econolodge was. Something else I always imagined to be up to par. Im not quite sure now what I think of this place. Upon checking in I would have never thought we paid for a room we could only watch one channel in. Only 1 battery in the remote. Did not want to bother the desk clerk at about 1am. I felt that was disrespectful. I also had discovered that the sink water didn't work at this time as well. At about 3 am I woke up to use restroom. Toilet didn't flush due toto no water going in. So here I am filling up ice buckets of water filling the toilet so I can flush it. At about 945 am I'm trying to take shower before check out time. No water coming out shower. I tell front desk about the issues and he tells me maintenance had just turned it off but he was going to have mines cut back on. He lied. I had no water all night. He knew thaat room had no water when he asked me at check in if I was planning to check out early morning. Whatever time I decide to check out did not concern him. It only concerned him because he knew that room had no water. So to be paying for a room that didn't have a number one necessity was down right dirty. Then for him to lie too at that was not ok. I honestly want to be accommodated. My husband also had to work and couldn't even brush his teeth at 6am.

The room was okay, but the facilities were awful. The pool was shut down indefinitely for maintenance. The laundry and the ice machine were broken. The key did not open the room door and they had to make another one. The TV didn't have service - the person from the office came to fix it, but it was really slow and would stop to load all the time. They should just shut this hotel down until they fix everything, because this was definitely not as advertised online.

5 Stars based upon customer service alone. The gentleman who stays on site was incredibly patient with us after asking about the intermittent cable service, requesting more toilet paper at 6:30AM, ringing the bell again for ice in the afternoon and getting locked out of our room in 105 temps. Bolt cutters required for the latter. Barstow is rundown. Room at Econo Lodge was surprisingly clean.

Better than most in area
Nice employees, clean, felt safe even tho there were homeless walking the streets. TV did not work, no working ice machine and shower head was in an awkward position unable to take a comfortable shower.

Easy to get to, and very nice staff. Being so close to Denny's is great! First night's rate was fab, 2nd more realistic but not as good (obviously). Continental breakfast was a little meager, but I don't know how many people were there.

Cute rustic hotel
The hotel is old and rustic. We stayed in the bunk house that was its own cute western room that had a covered porch with 2 rocking chairs. The pool was cute with a lil waterfall. I would definitely stay again, price was good. The down is there is no cable and wifi is not the best when watching tv

There was mold in the bathroom and on the walls as well as hair from someone else on a previous stay still in the shower tub. The beds had visible dirty stains on them and the pillows and towels even looked like they were clean. I’m glad I had my own blanket and pillows I laid on top of the bed but even then I couldn’t sleep well with all the filth. Very disappointed. Don’t believe the pictures, the rooms look nothing like what they post. Very dirty and outdated. Even the hair dryer was half a hair drying with the cords from inside exposed like someone took the back off? It was just a terrible stay and experience.
