One of the best in San Sebastian!
Overall this was a fantastic hotel to stay in, first the pro's: - very comfortable room and bed - Alejo, the front desk / concierge manager is WONDERFUL. He and his team went above and beyond to make sure we made the most of our stay (set us up with private autos, reservations, great restaurant suggestions, etc) The not so good: - no a la carte breakfast, either pay 90 Euros for buffet or starve - shower leaked onto the ground no matter what we tried to stop it from doing so. All in all, great place to stay, excellent location, exceptional staff.

It is easy to understand why the Hotel Maria Cristina is an iconic hotel. We arrived to a very kind and very professional greeting. The valet service is very strong. The lobby is truly spectacular. The rooms are amazing. The areas throughout the hotel are incredible. The team is first rate and were very helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is perfectly situated and is in close proximity to every key area. We fell in love with San Sebastian and so we look forward to returning to the Hotel Maria Cristina. Thank you!!

Excellent. Everything was great. Hotel is lovely, staff friendly and professional. Check in with Christian was the best we’ve ever had….and we travel a lot. House keeping manager came to introduce herself, and fulfilled every request. The room was spacious and immaculate The lobby bar was very good. Highly recommend this property.

Maria Cristina is undoubtedly a beautiful, characterful hotel. The Basque welcome from reception was really appreciated. We received a lovely glass of the local wine and the person who checked us in was so pleasant and helpful and that theme continued throughout. The reception and door staff couldn’t do enough. We had room 301. An upgrade from the garden view we had booked. A spacious room, very comfortable bed, Byredo products. On the downside there weren’t any tea / coffee making facilities! No cotton pads / buds. And worst of all no walk in shower. We had to climb over a rather dated bath! Breakfast is in a very traditional dining room which is lovely but the buffet is below average in my experience and most especially for a 5 star hotel. The coffee is horrible no matter the variation! Coffee in San Sebastián is poor generally but a very helpful guide recommended Simona (opposite Maria Cristiana) and that is here you’ll find a decent cup! The breakfast was hit and miss. I like a yoghurt and sometimes the space here they say would be empty. Location is probably the best in terms of everything you’d want to see and walk to so overall I’d recommend but a few upgrades need to be considered.
