I wouldn’t recommend Aurora Microtel if you value sleep, safety, or proper hotel management.
While the hotel is clean, in a great location, and has friendly staff, the lack of soundproofing and poor oversight made our stay miserable. Sports teams ran wild in the halls until midnight with no staff intervention. The pool was safe when a lifeguard was on duty, but during a birthday party, it was out of control—my four-year-old was nearly hit by a football.
The most concerning issue was a domestic dispute in the hall at 2 a.m. While staff arrived, they let the woman go back into the room and didn’t appear to call police, which was unsettling.
We also stayed during a snowstorm—the hotel barely cleared snow, leaving guests to shovel their own vehicles out from three-foot banks. Breakfast was chaotic, with little seating and food running out quickly due to the large groups.
Unless you’re staying in the off-season, expect noise, mismanagement, and major inconveniences. I won’t be back.
