Sapphire is an old and outdated hotel which is in desperate need of repair. The first room we checked into was offensive to our ole factory system which seemed to be a combination of mold and a musty smell. We sprayed frebreeze and tried airing it out the room to no avail. There was also a dead cockroach in front of the refrigerator which is a reflection of the custodial staff. The toilet had to be flushed several times before the contents took their journey downward. The second room, after we voiced a complaint, smelled a bit better, but the same musty/moldy smell lingered. Additionally, the WiFi did not work which I reported to the front desk, and it so happened the electrician was in the lobby and fixed it, but it only worked for one day. My wife informed the front desk and they told her she was the only person complaining about WiFi. Sapphire is an old, musty, and outdated hotel which desperately needs renovations. The proprietor needs to reinvest some of the profits and make it more worthy to book a stay. I will be traveling to St. Maarten again in April but will NOT return to this hotel. The aforementioned can be underscored when one of the timeshare owners told my wife it has gone down hill over the years. My wife ran into the timeshare owner when she was in the laundry room. While sitting on the patio to my second floor room, I heard the husband of an elderly couple say “they have not done anything to this place since March.”

Very Good
Much improved and coming back after Irma.
The hotel was badly damaged during hurricane Irma and it’s slowing coming back. It still needs some work and everything there is not new but the elevators are new, the lobby is beautiful and the pool/bar area is nice. Staff was great!!

Ok not great
Of course the culture is different but I’ve stayed in St Maarten before and at this site before and they seemed less helpful overall and more disorganized.
