We only stayed for one night and even though it was a short stay, we still had an amazing experience. The staff were so lovely and helpful, and the views from our room were stunning. The staff were very transparent in relation to the docking of a cruise ship along side the hotel, which meant views would be obscured. It was disappointed but we were happy to know well in advance.

Not on a cruise? Avoid

Avoid this hotel unless you are traveling on a cruise. If a ship docks next to hotel it towers over the building and it’s impossible to get in and out of the hotel due to 4000 people everywhere trying to get away from the dock. Booked months in advance but only warned about docking dates days before arrival. Hallways are tired and while staff are helpful this hotel chain needs to think hard about how they brand this location

The Hilton Auckland Hotel is a beautiful property that offers a memorable experience. My wife and I stayed there for one night before embarking on a cruise, and the location couldn't have been more convenient, with the cruise ship docked just beside the hotel. The hotel's decor is elegant, and our Harbour Plus room, which provided breathtaking views of the harbour, was beautifully appointed with all the amenities we could need. While breakfast was included, I found it disappointing that they charged extra for a cappuccino—this felt a bit petty. Additionally, the breakfast buffet could use some improvement; we had to remind the staff several times to replenish the offerings. I also experienced a long wait of 40 minutes for an omelette, which did not meet my expectations for timely service. Overall, our stay was enjoyable and convenient, but some areas could be enhanced to make it truly exceptional.

Excellent 2 day stay

We loved out stay at the Hilton on Princes Wharf. We booked a balcony view room and were given a room on the recently renovated 8th (top) floor. Definitely recommend securing that floor if you can as I believe that's the one floor thus far that's been fully renovated. The room was big, bright and felt brand new. Big balcony with spectacular views, big spa-like bathroom with freestanding soaking tub and great products. We liked that we had a Nespresso machine so we could make our own lattes in the morning. Service was excellent, very friendly and attentive. Good breakfast and a lunch one day at the restaurant Fish. Location is great, a quick walk out to shopping and a huge selection of restaurants at the Viaduct and Britomart. Our last day a big cruise ship came in and moored right next to the hotel, obstructing part of our view - didn't worry us and the hotel had warned us in advance but something to be aware of.
